From an early age Richard was drawn to cars, and would often go to auto shows with his dad. The two began working on cars and even built their own. Richard bought his first automobile when he was 14 years old, however, after matriculating from Eastern Hills High School, Richard left his passion for cars aside, and supported his life doing several other jobs.
Career Beginnings
Before he began professionally working on cars, Richard was a firefighter, paramedic and enforcement officer, while also starting the printing and advertising company Lincoln Press in 1999. Three years later he opened Gas Monkey Garage in Dallas, and then 2004 sold his ad company in order to fully focus on his career in the workshop.
Rise to Fame
After years of the successful dealership, his business was picked up by the Discovery Channel to create the show “Fast N’ Loud”, which is currently in its ninth episode. The success of his business, and also the popularity of the show have added a great deal to his net worth; Richard became extremely popular and is a highly respected person in the automotive industry.
Aside from his dedication to work, Richard also focused on the notable 1979 Cannonball Run record from New York City to Los Angeles, wanting to break the time of 32 hours and 51 minutes. He managed to achieve that with co-pilot Dennis Collins in 2007 using a black Ferrari 550 which they modified, adding extra fuel cells – they set the new record of 31 hours and 59 minutes.
