Who is Brittany Ashton Holmes?

Brittany Ashton Holmes was born on 27 February 1989, in New Orleans, Louisiana USA, and is an actress, perhaps still best known from gaining international fame as a child, playing the character of Darla in the 1994 film entitled “The Little Rascals”.

The Riches of Brittany Ashton Holmes

How rich is Brittany Ashton Holmes? As of late-2019, sources inform us of a net worth that is over $500,000, earned through a successful career as an actress. After two years in the industry, she took a long hiatus, and returned to acting sometime in 2014.

Early Life and Little Rascals

Brittany Ashton grew up in California, but there is no information about her parents, any siblings and her education. She aspired towards an acting career at a very young age, and became one of the few people who found their big break as a child. At the age of five, she gained a lot of acclaim for her performance in the film “The Little Rascals”.

The family comedy film was released by Universal Pictures, and is an adaptation of “Our Gang”, a series of short films which ran from the 1920s to the 1940s under the name “The Little Rascals”.

The show focused on the adventures of a group of young children, and the film adaptation presented many of the original show’s characters in a more updated setting. It was directed by Penelope Spheeris who co-wrote the screenplay. There are numerous re-interpretations of many of the shorts from the original film, noted to be the first collaboration between screenwriters Paul Guay and Stephen Mazur, who would later work on “Liar Liar”.

Continued Acting Work

A year after her best known role, Holmes continued acting work by being cast in a few television series.

The first was “Red Shoe Diaries” which is an erotic drama series aired on Showtime, and distributed by Playboy Entertainment overseas; the storyline focuses on a woman or girl who experiences a sexual awakening during the episode. The woman also narrates the show, and love scenes were a common theme alongside nudity.

Brittany then had a role in “Ellen”, which as the title denotes stars comedian Ellen DeGeneres, playing a neurotic bookstore owner in her 30s.

The show followed her dealings with friends, family, and the problems of daily life while being in Los Angeles, and was one of the first shows to star a main character who ‘came out’ as gay. The episode received a lot of exposure by the media, and even started a controversy. In 1996, Brittany appeared in “Inhumanoid”, which is a film that aired on Showtime as a part of the “Roger Corman Presents” series, and follows a family of three travelling in space, discovering a spaceship with one survivor.

Hiatus and Return

Brittany Ashton’s last film project was “Humanoids from the Deep”, also aired on Roger Corman presents.

It’s a remake of the science fiction movie of the same name which aired in 1980, and follows the story of a monster that lurks the shores of a small town in California. After her work there, she decided to retire from the acting, not unusual for child actors, as it is rare for them to continue with their career for various reasons.

Over the years that passed, she moved away from the spotlight with little known about her teenage and early adult life.

She was reported to have been attending a high school in Southern California, and played soccer for the school team. After matriculating from high school, she attended college, earning a degree in political science. In 2014, she tried her hand at acting once more, appearing in the television movie entitled “We Hate Paul Revere” – the title is a reference to a popular personality from the American Revolution, who became a prominent silversmith, making significant advancements in his industry.

Coincidentally, it was the same year that a direct to video “Little Rascals” film was created, but she wasn’t a part of it.

Personal Life and Social Media

For her personal life, it is known that Holmes is married and resides in Los Angeles with her husband, however, there is no information available about him or their family. It’s unknown if she will continue with acting, or instead just focus on another career entirely. She has done some commercial work, but essentially left it all behind.

One of the reasons why there is almost no information about her is due to the lack of any strong online social media presence. She does not have accounts on any of the major social media websites such as Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. Many of her fellow cast-members from the “Little Rascals” have gone on to pursue different careers too, including marketing, public accounting, music production, with only two members of the gang continuing on with acting.
