China Chow mom, Tina Chow
Now that we have covered all the major information about China, let’s share some information about her mother, Tina Chow. Real name Bettina Louis Lutz, she was born in Lakeview, Ohio USA, and was a model, reaching prominence in the ‘70s and ‘80s and attaining fashion icon status. The daughter of Walter Edmund Lutz, of German, and Mona Furuki, of Japanese ancestry, she has a sister Adelle Lutz, now an actress and costume designer.
In her teens, the whole family moved to Japan, where she was discovered by a modeling agent, who secured her a gig with the Japanese cosmetic line Shiseidom and she gradually became more. She was the muse of such fashion designers as Yves St. Laurent, and Andy Warhol was one of many who painted pictures of her. Tina was an AIDS activist for the better part of her life, as many of her friends succumbed to the terrible disease. She herself contracted a disease in the mid- ‘80s following an affair with French aristocrat, Kim D’Estainville, and passed away at only 41 years of age from complications from AIDS at her home in Pacific Palisades.
