Career Beginnings

Once out of the University, Maria started looking for a place where she could start her professional career, and was soon hired by WTVM-TV as a meteorologist, serving at the station from 1998 to 2000, when she joined WXIX-TV, a Fox affiliate in Cincinnati, Ohio. Maria remained there for four years, when she left the station and took a huge step forward to become a meteorologist and anchor for WTVM-TV, an ABC affiliate with headquarters in Columbus, Georgia.

Rise to Prominence

Gradually, Maria’s name started became more popular, and her hard work finally paid off in 2010, when she was recruited by the Weather Channel. She was first appointed as co-anchor of the “Weekend Now” show, and then “PM Edition Weekend” also as a co-anchor, both from 2010 to 2012. In 2012 she became co-anchor of “First Outlook” and “Your Weather Today”, and her appointment as a fill-in anchor in the show “Wake Up With Al” increased her popularity considerably.
