Life before Fame

Morgan spent her childhood in Greensboro, where she was raised by her father, a worker on the railroads whose name is unknown in the media, and her mother, Dr. Lily Kelly-Radford, a retired clinical psychologist and management consultant. Regarding her education, Morgan attended Grimsley High School, and upon matriculation enrolled into Duke University, later as a junior transferring to Harvard University, from which she graduated with honors, earning her BA degree in Foreign Language Citations in French and Spanish and Social Studies in May of 2009.

Career Beginnings

Morgan started pursuing her career as a journalist, and in the same year was hired as an intern for Morning Express with Robin Meade at the CNN network. In 2010, she received a Fulbright Scholarship, one of several US Cultural Exchange Programs, so she spent some time as an English teacher at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban, South Africa, then got an offer to work behind the scene as a production assistant for EPSN during the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

In the next two years, Morgan earned her MA degree in Broadcast Journalism from Columbia University, and was named an Edith Pulitzer Moore and Joseph Pulitzer II Fellow.
