Who is Eric Cartman?
Eric Theodore Cartman is one of the central and most iconic characters of the animated comedy series “South Park”, created by Matt Stone and Trey Parker; he’s a fourth-grade student at South Park Elementary and is known for his distinctive personality and often outrageous behavior.
Cartman is characterized being obese, wearing a red jacket and a blue hat with a yellow puffball on top; he has a nasal voice and a unique way of speaking. What sets Cartman apart from other characters is his unapologetic, self-centered and often cruel nature, as he frequently displays racism, homophobia and a general disregard for the feelings of others, often making him the show’s primary antagonist.

“South Park” features several main characters, each with their own unique personalities and roles in the series; even though Cartman’s undoubtedly the central character, here’s an insight into other main characters:
Stan Marsh is one of the show’s core characters, and is often considered the most ‘normal’ of the group; he’s known for his blue hat and strong sense of morality. Stan is usually the character who tries to make sense of the crazy situations that the boys find themselves in, and he’s the closest thing the show has to a voice of reason, even though he often gets caught up in the madness of his friends. His family includes his parents Randy and Sharon Marsh, who can be seen appearing in nearly all the episodes.
Kyle Broflovski is Stan’s best friend, and is instantly recognizable by his green hat; he’s known for his strong sense of justice, and often finds himself at odds with Cartman due to their conflicting personalities and beliefs. Kyle’s family, including his mother Sheila and younger brother Ike, can also often be seen appearing in the series.
Kenny McCormick’s easily recognizable by his orange parka and the fact that he mumbles and so is often difficult to understand. He’s the unfortunate character who dies in nearly all of the episodes, only to miraculously return in the next one without explanation; this running gag is a dark humorous element of the show. Kenny’s death is usually followed by his friends saying ‘Oh my God, they killed Kenny!.. You bastards!’
Butters Stotch is a lovable and naive character who often finds himself manipulated by the other boys, especially Cartman; he’s known for his catchphrase “Oh hamburgers!” Butters takes on a more prominent role in later seasons and is sometimes portrayed as a contrast to Cartman, demonstrating the difference between innocence and hostility.
Randy Marsh is Stan’s father and one of the show’s main adult characters, known for his eccentric and often bizarre behavior. Randy often gets caught up in ridiculous situations, and serves as a commentary on the absurdity of adult life; he’s a geologist, farmer and also a member of the fictional superhero group ‘The Coon and Friends’.
Sharon Marsh is Stan’s mother and is a lot more ‘normal’ character compared to her husband Randy; she often provides a voice of reason within the Marsh family, and her reactions to the chaos in South Park add another layer of humor to the series.
