Michael Felger is an American sports radio talk show host, who achieved stardom by working for the WBZ-FM headquartered in Boston, as the co-host of the show “Felger and Massarotti”, next to Tony Massarotti. He also works for NBC Sports Boston, co-hosting the show “Arbella Early Edition” and “Sports Sunday”, among other differing achievements.

Born Michael Alan Felger on the 6th August 1969, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin USA, he hasn’t shared anything from his childhood years, such as the names of his parents and their professions, nor whether he has siblings or if he is a single child. When it comes to his education, after high school, Michael enrolled at Boston University, from which he graduated in 1992.

Career Beginnings

Michael initially became an intern at the Boston Herald, and was subsequently hired by the magazine on a full-time basis, and steadily built his career in sports journalism. In 1997 he was promoted to lead reporter for the Boston Bruins ice hockey team, working in the position for two years before he was made the New England Patriots American Football beat columnist, which he held from 1999 to 2008. He steadily became more popular, and in 2005 he was given his own radio program “The Mike Felger Show”, aired on 890 ESPN.

The show lasted from 2005 until 2008, during which time he became quite popular. However, he left the station and the show, and joined WEEI, as an online columnist and fill-in host.

Rise to Prominence

In 2009 Michael became a part of the new station, WBZ-FM, also known as 98.5 The Sports Hub to start the show “Felger and Massarotti”, with Tony Massarotti. Since then, Michael has become a national star, and back in January 2018 signed a new deal with The Beasley Media Group, a subsidiary of the Beasley Broadcast Group, which owns the station.

Thanks to the popularity of the show, the rights for airing were also bought by NBC Sports Boston, which simultaneously airs his show.

To speak further of his accomplishments, Michael can be seen in the show “Sports Sunday”, and also serves as the host of the pre- and post-game coverage for the Boston Bruins with Tony Amonte, and New England Patriots games with Ty Law and Troy Brown.

During his career that spans more than 25 years, Michael has made a few controversial statements, such as mocking the deaths of Dale Earnhardt and Roy Halladay while on “Felger and Massarotti”, which led to a three-day suspension from NBC Sports Boston. He made apologies the following day for his comments.
