The son of Rich Post, who was a disc jockey and had a major influence on young Post, introducing him to different music genres, such as rock, country, and as well hip-hop, his mother’s name hasn’t been revealed in the media; he was raised by his father and stepmother, Jodie Post. After Malone’s first nine years of life, the Post family moved to Grapevine, Texas, following his father’s promotion as a manager of concessions for the Dallas Cowboys American Football team.

He continued to enjoy popularity, making friends with Kanye West with whom he later worked on the song “Fade”, found on West’s album “The Life of Pablo”, and also collaborated with 50 Cent and Justin Bieber, who then took him on the Purpose World Tour, to serve as Bieber’s opening act. Before 2015 ended, Post released another single “Too Young”, which also became extremely popular. His debut album “Stoney” was released on the 9th December 2016 to rave reviews as it topped Rap, and R&B/Hip-Hop charts, while it peaked at No. 4 on the US Billboard 200 chart.
