After graduating, Lake got her first career opportunity with an ABC affiliate located in Bangor, Maine. She did not stay there long, however, as she quickly made the switch to the Murray, Utah-based station KUTV in 1994, a CBS affiliate, licensed to Salt Lake City, and a part of a triopoly alongside KJZZ-TV and KMYU. The three stations share studios, and they are known for broadcasting over 36 hours of locally produced newscasts each week. She has been involved in numerous tasks for over 20 years of service with the network.
During her early years with KUTV, she anchored the morning and noontime shows, and weekend shows alongside Brian Mullahy. In recent years, she’s often seen broadcasting the show called 2News during the afternoon and late evening broadcasts, on the five, six, and 10PM broadcasts, usually interviewing important personalities in Utah, or celebrities who have come to visit. Recent Endeavors and Drunk Driving Episode
In 2017, Shauna was arrested for Driving Under the Influence (DUI), as she allegedly drove home drunk after coming off work. The arrest cause a bit of stir among her followers, with half of them becoming livid due to her behavior while others were supportive of her. She made a public apology the next day, acknowledging her mistake and asking for forgiveness, crying the entire time during the apology. She pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of misdemeanor of impaired driving, and was ordered to pay a fine of $1460 while also completing eight hours of community service. She will also serve a year of probation which includes attending a two hour class called the Victim Impact Panel.
This was the first time an incident like this occurred in her life, and it was a wake-up call for her as she was apparently veering into the path of alcoholism in recent months. Since then, she’s returned to her broadcasting duties, and during her free time often gets involved in charity or community events within Utah. She usually covers recent noteworthy news in the state, while occasionally touching on pressing news from around the country. She also covers a lot of breaking news for the station.
Personal Life and Social Media
For her personal life, it is known that Lake married Todd Nathaniel Marshall and even adopted his last name, going professionally as Shauna Lake Marshall for a brief period. They have two children together but their marriage eventually ended in divorce in 2016.
She enjoys listening to music, and her favorite musician is Charlotte Martin. She reads during her free time, often works by Ayn Rand. Some of the books she’s read include “The Fountainhead”, “The Atlas Shrugged”, and “Anthem”; she also enjoys art. She spends some of her free time running.
