Education and early life

Amanda was raised alongside her sisters Monica and Cathy, by their mother Ana Delia Samso and father Angel Raul Miguel; not many other details have been disclosed about Amanda’s family, because she respects their privacy.

Amanda became passionate about music while still attending a local elementary school, mostly because her parents played music at home nearly every day. She was in her school’s choir and also sang in a number of school plays.

Amanda enrolled at local high school in 1970 and continued singing, while she also enjoyed starring in school plays and practicing creative writing. She was 17 when she met her future husband, Argentine-born Mexican singer Miguel Atilio Boccadoro Hernandez, perhaps remembered best by his professional name Diego Verdaguer.

Amanda matriculated in 1971, and then began pursuing music rather than enrolling at college.

Amanda’s career

When Amanda met Diego Verdaguer, he was already a popular singer in Mexico and had her join his musical group Mediterraneo. They were quite popular, and often performed in Los Angeles, California USA but after Amanda was discovered by an agent and signed to Univision network, she chose to focus on her solo career.

Her debut album was recorded in 1981 and released a year later, entitled “El Sonido Vol. 1”; she implemented a rather different style than that of Mediterraneo, and the album was quite popular in Latin countries. Amanda’s second album “El Sonido Vol. 2” followed in 1983, and her third “El Sonido Vol. 3” in 1984; these spawned several hit songs, including “Mi Buen Corazon” and “Asi No Te Amara James, El Me Mintio”, which were often played on radio stations in Los Angeles.

Following the birth of Amanda and Diego’s daughter in 1983, she chose to take some time off music and raise their child.

Amanda’s fourth album “El Pecado” was released in 1987 and was followed by her fifth “El Rostro Del Amor” in 1989. She chose to record ranchero music for her sixth album “Rompecorazones”, released in 1992, and it was a hit.

Amanda’s following three albums were “Amame Una Vez Mas”, released in 1996, “5 Dias” in 1999 and “Feliz Navidad A Toda La Humanidad” in 2004; even though no longer a member of Mediterraneo, Amanda still occasionally performed with the music group and her husband Diego.

Her 10th album “Piedra de Afilar” came out in 2006, and was followed by her 11th “Anillo de Compromiso” in 2008, then from 2011 through 2014, Amanda released the remastered versions of her three first albums.

She’s since released only a single studio album: “80*15” in 2015; it’s widely believed that Amanda’s currently working on her 13th studio album, but this is yet to be confirmed by her.
