How rich is Amy Freeze? As of early-2018, sources estimate a net worth that is at $2.5 million, mostly earned through success as a meteorologist; she reportedly now earns a salary of above $1 million a year. As she continues her endeavors, it is expected that her wealth will also continue to increase.

Moving Towards a Career in Meteorology

Amy grew up in Indiana, the eldest of five siblings, and attended Jefferson High School. After matriculating in 1992, she went on to attend Brigham Young University located in Provo, Utah,  studying for a degree in communications, and then for a degree in geosciences at Mississippi State University. Afterwards, she continued by taking a Master’s Degree at the University of Pennsylvania, with her thesis about “The Storm Water Action Alert Program”, which aimed to help major cities against combined sewer overflows.

Her first job was as a part of WCAU in Philadelphia, where she worked both as a meteorologist and as a co-host of the entertainment show entitled “10!” She also worked as a substitute at MSNBC on the show “Weekend Today”, which led her to serve part time in New York City. Afterwards, she worked in Denver, Colorado for the stations KWGN and KMGH, before finding more broadcasting work at KPTV in Portland, Oregon.

Amy’s popularity started to grow and so did her net worth, after she found a cameo appearance in an episode of the television series entitled “Scrubs”. She also popularized a signature style of reporting in which she uses viewers’ digital photos sent in via Facebook, Twitter, or email, which help capture the weather. She also created segments named “Super Cat Saturday”, “Freeze Frame”, and “Big Dog Sunday”, while one of her most popular segments is called “The Freeze Factor”, on which she rates the next day’s weather on a scale of one to ten. Her popularity and unique ways of reporting saw her named by NJ.Com as Top Forecaster in New York in 2017.

She has also worked in Chicago, and used her position as a top meteorologist to give weather presentations about severe weather to numerous students every year. She hosted the first ever Weather Education Days for the Chicago Wolves, Chicago Cubs and the Chicago White Sox professional sports teams. She also became a sideline reporter for Major League Soccer – another female first – and also worked on the sidelines as a reporter for the National Football League’s Chicago Bears.

She is one of the first 20 women in the world to receive certificate number 111 from the American Meteorological Society, certifying them as a broadcast meteorologist, and she also carries American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association Seals of Approval. She has also been rewarded for her work by winning an Emmy Award three times. She has been working as a part of WABC-TV in New York City since 2011, where she mainly has a role of the weekend morning weathercaster.

Is Amy Freeze Married? Life Outside Broadcasting

According to numerous sources, Freeze married Gary Arbuckle in 1993, but their marriage ended in divorce in 2014. There have since been no further details about any romantic relationships. She does her best to maintain a very active lifestyle, and during her free time she surfs and is also a certified scuba diver. She has also completed 9 marathons, and engaged in mountain climbing, including to the summit of Mount Snowden, all seven peaks of Mount Fuji, and the summit of Mount Timpanogus.
