He also has two other car dealerships, Carini Carozzeria and Continental Auto Ltd.

Early Life, Parents, and Education

The son of Rosemary and Robert Carini, Wayne started learning mechanics of cars from an early age, alongside his father who owned a collision repair and auto restoration business in Glastonbury, Connecticut. As the years went by, Wayne’s interest in cars became greater, and he would travel with his father throughout the US on weekends visiting car shows. When he was only nine years old, Wayne sat behind the wheel for the first time, and it was the legendary 1960 Rosso Chiaro 250 SWB Ferrari. After high school, Wayne still wanted to chase an academy degree, but after his father gave him half of the family business, he decided not to pursue education further, and focus entirely on the car restoration business.

Career Beginnings

Starting from his father’s junkyard, Wayne and Robert started working together on classic cars, such as Duesenberg, Lincoln, Ford Model A and Packard models, among others. His passion became his everyday job, and Wayne ran his business, gradually improving his skills and broadening his business. Since he became the owner of the family business, Wayne has launch three car dealerships in Portland, and moving forward he eventually caught the attention of Jim Astroski, the chief of Essex Television Group Inc, who came forward with an offer for a TV show that would follow Wayne’s daily chase for vintage cars. and “Chasing Classic Cars” was created.

“Chasing Classic Cars” and Rise to Prominence

“Chasing Classic Cars” premiered on the 9th September 2008, and since then 131 episodes have been aired on the Discovery Channel, with Wayne and his team the stars of the show. The series became popular over the years, making Wayne a celebrity all over the world. Some of the most interesting cars restored on the show include a 1934 MG Airline Coupe and 1935 Wetteroth/Schoof Special Indy race car, and a 1984 Chevrolet Mach 5, among many others. Thanks to his skills, Wayne has been praised as the most skillful of car restorers, earning respect from his co-workers and people who can be seen on other shows with the same topic.
