All too often ladies, we take care of everyone else but ourselves. We put off what we need or something our body is telling us because someone else needs us. How many hats do you switch between in a single day? Chef, chauffeur, nurse, therepist, teacher, confidant, friend, protector, provider… As Mothers, we rarely feel as valuable as we actually are. We are the glue in our families. They need us. They need us healthy. This photo is of me at the crack of dawn (ha ha little humor) waiting to get a colonoscopy. I’m technically too young, based on what they recommend, BUT my Grandma passed away at a young age from colon cancer. I’m sharing this photo because I strongly believe in advocating for yourself, valuing your body and facing fears, so I asked my doctor to do this screening. My colonoscopy came back perfect, thankfully! And had my Grandma gotten hers regularly she would probably still be here to meet my kids. I needed to break the cycle of women in my family not taking the best care of themselves. I’ve vowed to be different and to honor my body. We need to take better care of ourselves Mommas! We need to schedule every recommended screening so that we’re here for as long as we can be. Fear that keeps us from confronting health issues is foolishness. I’m a strong believer that an ounce of prevention, is worth a pound of cure. What are you due for: Colonoscopy? Mammogram? Pap smear? Skin check? Blood work? Schedule it! DM me the day of your appointment if you need a pep talk to get through your fear…but schedule it! I choose to do most of my health related things near the start of the school year, because I’m doing so much for the kiddos, I want them to see me doing for myself and taking care of ME. He spent his childhood in Decatur, Georgia, where he was raised alongside his two siblings by his father, Clifford Hardwick III, a lawyer, and his mother, Joyce Hardwick. He went to Marist School in Atlanta, Georgia, after which he was a student on a sports scholarship at the University of Georgia, where he was a part of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity.
