Who is Alicia Roman?
Alicia was born in a small city to the north of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania USA, but her exact date of birth is not known; she holds American nationality and is of African-American ethnicity. She became popular after she started working as a meteorologist for NBC Chicago.
Early life and education
Alicia grew up wanting to be a weather reporter – she used to sit in front of her TV and wait for the weather forecast to start, and would also wake up at 4 or 5 a.m. when she was just three years old, to wait for the prognosis. Even though she hasn’t shared anything about her parents with the public, she talked about how she used to ask them a lot of questions about weather and they tried to answer all of them, and were proud of her ambition. She was a bit embarrassed while at school because all of her friends wanted to become doctors and firemen, so she never spoke about her desires there. She loved spending thundery days sitting on her porch with her father, who worked on construction sites– her mother is said to be a cancer survivor. She never talks about her siblings, which make people believe that she is an only child.
After she matriculated from high school, Alicia started by attending Penn State University to study Broadcast Journalism, later switching to Mississippi State University at which she studied Broadcast Meteorology. In 2009, she received her seal of approval from the American Meteorological Society, which only a few female meteorologists have ever achieved.
Career
Alicia launched her career when she began working for WHIZ-TV station based in Ohio, staying with them for a while before moving to South Carolina, but couldn’t find a job there and therefore moved again, this time to Indianapoli,s and started working for WISH-TV station as their meteorologist.
Her big breakthrough came when she was offered a position of a weekend morning meteorologist for NBC Chicago, which she accepted, and as time went by and her superiors noticed her talent, she got to appear on TV screens during weekdays as well.
Personal life
Alicia began dating Nick Scafiezzo in 2012, and after two years they got engaged in December 2014, and their wedding took place on 28 November 2015. He had an idea about proposing to Alicia: he has a friend who was working with the City of Chicago and helped him set up the ice rink located in the Millennium Park – the couple went to the middle of the rink when Nick got on his knee and proposed while all of Alicia’s family and friends surrounded the rink and were wearing Santa hats. The couple spent their honeymoon travelling – they took January 2016 off and went to Maldives and then Thailand. As of February 2019, the family counts three people as they welcomed their baby boy Nico. Nick is known to be working for Univision TV network as their national sales account executive.
Their wedding ceremony
The wedding ceremony took place at Old St. Patrick’s church, the Reverend Tom Hurley wrote an ode in which he incorporated Alicia’s profession and said how ‘You can never predict anything, but we’re predicting a perfect wedding.’ It seems that the Reverend was right because after the couple and their 325 guests got to the Hyatt Regency Chicago, the guys from the Chicago Bulls Drumline were ready to perform for the introduction of the bridal party, and played a song by Kanye West called “Power”. Soon after that, the DJ Matt Roan turned the volume up and asked the newly married couple to start their lip sync battle – Alicia sang “Love Shack” by The B-52 while Nick sang a song from “The Karate Kid” entitled “You’re the Best Around”. They even hired a magician to perform at the wedding, and the atmosphere was loved by their guests as they stayed on the floor dancing until well after midnight. Alicia said that was the idea because she wanted everyone to be happy and to have a good time – she wanted to ‘win the crowd’.
Alicia is a Philanthropist
After her mother won a fight against cancer, Alicia saw it as a wake-up call and became involved in helping cancer patients, not only working with patients but also encouraging businesses and organizations to donate money to institutions which are in search of a cure for cancer. She claims that there is so much money in the world but that society can’t find a cure for a disease such as cancer is driving her mad. One of the ways to keep cancer away is to live a healthy lifestyle and she recommends this to everyone.
Likes and hobbies
Alicia is a big fan of outdoors and enjoys spending her time in nature. She is a great dancer and was a part of a reality dance contest show, but didn’t manage to win it. Travelling is one of her favorite things in the world while she is also fond of reading and cooking.
Daily beauty routine
During an interview with Blowtique, Alicia shared her beauty secret with the public – she said ‘moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! I have a face cream (day and night), wrinkle cream and eye cream – I love them all.’ She also said how she prefers winter to summer because she loves clothes including jackets, scarves, and boots – just like the huge majority of women, Alicia is in love with clothes and make-up, and says how she could spend her entire day sitting at the make-up counter.
Appearance and net worth
Even though Alicia’s exact date of birth is not known, she is said to be 36 years old. She has long black hair, black eyes, is 5ft 4ins (1.62m), weighs around 114lb (52kgs), and her vital statistics are 33-23-35.
According to authoritative sources, Alicia’s current net worth is estimated to be over $1 million and is sure to rise since Alicia is very active and is becoming more popular in the TV industry – the average salary of a weather reporter in the US is said to be around $70,000 per year.
Social media presence
Alicia is very active on several social media platforms which is a common thing for people who are working on TV – she launched her Twitter account in October 2011 and has so far gathered over 10,000 followers and tweeted more than 23,000 times. Her Instagram account is followed by nearly 10,000 people while she posted over 1,600 pictures – she has a Facebook page as well with more than 22,000 fans following it.
Alicia’s husband Nick is also quite active on the Internet, but not nearly as popular as Alicia – he launched his Twitter account in October 2009 and has amassed around 350 followers and tweeted over 600 times. He has an Instagram account as well and is followed by nearly 1,000 people while he’s posted almost 400 pictures, but his account is set on private so you will have to follow him if you want to check out the photos.
