Who is Jack Kilmer?

American actor John Wallace ‘Jack’ Kilmer was born in Los Angeles, California USA, under the zodiac sign Gemini on 6 June 1995. He has 39 acting credits, and is perhaps known best for playing Chet in the 2016 action crime comedy movie “The Nice Guys”, which starred Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe, and was written and directed by Shane Black. It follows two detectives as they’re investigating the death of a porn star and the disappearance of a young woman in 1970s Los Angeles’; the film won nine of its 43 award nominations.

Jack’s currently shooting for seven upcoming movies, including “How the Gringo Stole Christmas”, “The Tower” and “Generation Angst”.

Education and early life

Jack was raised in Los Angeles alongside his sister Mercedes Kilmer, by their American father Val Edward Kilmer who’s a famous American actor, and British mother Joanne Whalley who’s also an actress.

Jack studied at The Center for Early Education, and was six when he met future famous American screenwriter and film director Gian-Carla ‘Gia’ Coppola, who was 14 at that time. He went on to attend a local high school at which he was mostly into appearing in plays, playing football, and taking creative writing lessons.

Jack matriculated in 2013 and although his initial plan was to pursue a college degree, he’d already launched his acting career and thus chose to pursue it over higher education.

Roles in movies

Jack’s debut film role was playing Teddy in the critically acclaimed 2013 drama “Palo Alto”, which starred Emma Roberts and James Franco, and was written and directed by Gia Coppola. It follows a shy young girl who’s about to enter a relationship with her soccer coach, and the movie was nominated for four awards.

A couple of Jack’s following roles were in the 2015 biographical historical drama “The Stanford Prison Experiment”, the 2015 musical comedy “Len and Company” and the 2016 music video “Metallica: ManUNkind”.  In 2018, he portrayed Pelle ‘Dead’ Ohlin in the biographical horror “Lords of Chaos”, which starred Rory Culkin and Emory Cohen, and was directed by Jonas Akerlund. It follows a teenager who’s trying to launch Norwegian Black Metal in Oslo in the first half of the ‘90s, and the movie won four of its seven award nominations. Also in 2018, Jack appeared in the thriller “Josie”, the romantic comedy “Wobble Palace” and the romantic comedy “Summer ‘03”.

In 2019, he portrayed Jesse in the drama “Hala”, starring Gabriel Luna and Geraldine Viswanathan. It follows the life of Muslim teenager Hala; the film was nominated for two awards.

Also in 2019, Jack starred as Will in the crime mystery thriller “The Giant”, which also starred Ben Schnetzer and Odessa Young, and was written and directed by David Raboy. It follows a teenage girl who believes that her former boyfriend’s a serial killer, and the movie was nominated for two awards.

Some of Jack’s most recent film roles have been in the 2021 short comedy “Hardcore Halbert”, the 2023 action crime thriller “Detective Knight: Independence” and the 2023 western “Dead Man’s Hand”.

Roles in TV series

Jack’s appeared in only five TV series. His debut was playing Tabby Smooth in three episodes of the musical crime comedy mini-series “The Spoils Before Dying”, which starred Kristen Wiig and Michael Kenneth Williams, and was created by Andrew Steele and Matt Piedmont. It follows the life of fictional author and moviemaker Eric Jonrosh and the mini-series was nominated for three awards.

The year 2021 saw Jack play Zane in the episode “Part 7: Boundaries” of the thriller comedy “Immoral Compass”, and the same year saw him portray Louis Chinasky in three episodes of the crime mystery “Law & Order: Organized Crime”.

In 2022, Jack voiced Madmartigan in two episodes of the popular action adventure “Willow”, which starred Ellie Bamber and Ruby Cruz, and was created by Jonathan Kasdan. It follows wizard Willow Ufgood as he’s assembled a group of misfits to embark with him on a rescue mission, and the series won one of its three award nominations.

Jack’s only other TV series role has been playing one of the lead characters Joey Peacock, in all nine episodes of the 2023 drama “The Lesser Dead”, which also starred Minnie Driver and Toby Ryan, and follows Joey who’s discovered the existence of three little kid vampires.

Other credits

Jack produced the 2021 biographical documentary movie “Val”.

He wrote and sang the song “T. M.” in the 2013 movie “Palo Alto”, and the song “Lemon” in the 2021 film “Val”.

Jack’s appeared in talk-shows “Hollywood First Look” and “Made in Hollywood”.

Jack shies away from speaking about his love life in public, and this has led some of his fans to believe that he’s gay.

The rumors began circulating the internet in 2017, when a fan claimed to had seen Jack and his boyfriend spending time together at a club in Los Angeles; no evidence was provided to support these claims, nor has Jack addressed these.

There are also those who believe that the popular actor’s today in a relationship with a non-celebrity American girl, and that he simply prefers to keep her away from media, but this hasn’t been confirmed either.

Others have claimed that Jack’s today focused on his career and isn’t pursuing love, but Jack’s yet to address this.

He seems to be unattached as of September 2023, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.

Jack’s physically quite active, and enjoys skateboarding and surfing; he also has a couple of training sessions at the gym every week.
