He has toured to promote his music, and has also collaborated with numerous popular artists. As he continues his career, it is expected that his wealth will also continue to increase.

Journey through Crime, Music, and Songs

21 Savage is of Haitian and Dominican descent, and was born into a family with 10 siblings, one of whom would pass away when involved in a drug deal that lead to a shooting. 21’s life was exposed to crime at a young age, such that during seventh grade, no school in the DeKalb County School District would accept his enrollment after he was found in possession of a gun. Due to this, he started attending schools around the Atlanta metropolitan area, but it did not last long as he was sent to a youth detention center.

From his youth, he was associated with the well-known street gang, Bloods, with whom he committed numerous criminal acts, including violence. In 2013 on his 21st birthday, he was shot six times during an attempted robbery, which also claimed the life of his best friend. This event changed his way of life, and he found an opportunity through rapping, effectively taking him off the streets. His goal was to be able to help his partners and mom have nice cars and houses.

21 Savage’s career in music would start a year later, when he released his debut single entitled “Picky”, produced by DJ Plugg. The song would later be a part of his debut mixtape entitled “The Slaughter Tape”, released in 2015 via iTunes, and also free for digital download, and featured guest appearances by Offset, Key!, and many others. He then worked on a collaborative EP with Sonny Digital, entitled “Free Guwop”, which was a tribute to fellow rapper Gucci Mane who is known to have pioneered the hip hop subgenre of trap. 21 has mentioned that he wants to be the next Gucci Mane, and identifies with his journey in life and the music industry. Savage then worked on a second mixtape entitled “Slaughter King”, which was released in December 2015, steadily increasing his net worth.

His popularity started to grow too, and soon he was featured by the magazine XXL as one of the “Freshman Class” of 2016. He worked on a joint EP entitled “Savage Mode” with producer Metro Boomin, which would become his breakthrough release as it gained success internationally, and even reached the 23rd spot of the Billboard 200. It became his highest charting EP to date, with one of his most popular songs on the EP being “X”, featuring Future. The song became his first platinum achievement, and would then go on to be certified double platinum; this success would lead him to sign with Epic Records.

After his signing, he then went on to make his debut studio album, entitled “Issa Album” which also featured production from Metro Boomin, and reached the second spot of the US Billboard 200 chart, with its lead single “Bank Account” reaching the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100. Later in the year, he was featured on the single “Rockstar” by Post Malone, which would peak in the top spot of the Billboard Hot 100, before going on to break several records.
