Charlie’s career started in 2004 with a minor role in the film “The Village”, while the same year he also had his first recurring role, as Young Gerald in the TV series “Windy Acres”. He continued to build his career with roles in such films as “Disappearances” in 2006, co-starring Kris Kristofferson and Gary Farmer, while two years later, he had his first feel of real success, when he was chosen for the part of T.J. in the crime-drama film “Frozen River”, starring alongside Melissa Leo and Misty Upham, for which Charlie earned an Independent Spirit Award nomination in the category Best Supporting Male. In the same year, Charlie also portrayed Andy in the comedy series “Sex Drive”, with Josh Zuckerman, Clark Duke and Amanda Crew in the lead roles, then in 2008 he had another interesting appearance, though only a brief one; he was the student in the TV series “Office”, which put him a level higher in Hollywood.

Charlie was pushing forward and in 2009 his hard work finally paid off when he was chosen for the part of Axl Heck in the sitcom “The Middle”, co-starring Patricia Heaton and Neil Flynn. When asked about the end of the series, Charlie stated that he only hoped that he would find new roles that would grow close to his heart as Axl Heck did. While on the show, Charlie secured other notable roles, in comedy films such as Chaz in the film “Hot Tub Machine” (2010), with John Cusack, Rob Corddry and Craig Robinson in the lead roles, while he also starred in the crime-drama film “Bond of Silence”, with Kim Raver and Greg Grunberg. After that, he became more focused on the TV series, but returned to the big screen in 2015 with the part of Henry in the comedy film “ImagiGary”. Most recently he started working on the new TV series “Unbelievable”, scheduled for a premiere in 2019.
