Who is Sarah Parish?

British actress Sarah Parish was born under the zodiac sign Gemini on 7 June 1968, in Yeovil, Somerset, England. She has 58 acting credits, but is perhaps still known best for playing TJ in the 2005 romantic comedy movie “The Wedding Date”, which starred Debra Messing and Dermot Mulroney, and was directed by Clare Kilner; it follows Kat Ellis who’s hired a male escort to pretend to be her boyfriend at her sister’s wedding.

Education and early life

Sarah was raised in Yeovil alongside her brother John Parish and sister Julie, by their father Bill Parish and mother Thelma; not many details have been shared about Sarah’s family because she respects their privacy, but it’s known that her brother’s today a famous musician and songwriter.

Sarah studied at Preston School, and was passionate about several activities during her four years there, as she took singing lessons, appeared in a number of school plays and ran track. She matriculated in 1986 and then enrolled at Yeovil College, from which she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 1990.

Sarah then went on to hone her acting skills at Yeovil Youth Theatre.

Sarah’s debut TV series role was playing Linda Fincham in the 1994 episode “Taking Stock” of the crime drama “The Bill”, and from 1997 through 1999, she portrayed Dawn Rudge in 33 episodes of the drama “Peak Practice”, which starred Simon Shepherd and Gary Mavers, and follows the lives of doctors Will Preston, Beth Glover and Jack; the series aired from 1993 through 2002 and won one of its two award nominations.

Sarah could then have been seen appearing in an episode of the crime drama “City Central”, the drama “Brotherly Love” and the comedy “Kiss Me Kate”. In 2004, she starred as Natalie Holden in all six episodes of the crime comedy mini-series “Blackpool”, which also starred Thomas Morrison and David Morrissey, and follows entrepreneur Ripley Holden who’s opened an arcade in his hometown; the mini-series won two of its 11 award nominations. In 2017, Sarah played Cath Atwood in eight episodes of the critically acclaimed crime mystery “Broadchurch”, which starred Olivia Colman and David Tennant, and was created by Chris Chibnall. Sarah’s debut film role was playing Ad Agency Receptionist in the 1998 romantic comedy “Parting Shots”, and some of her following roles were in the 1998 drama “Middleton’s Changeling”, the 2001 comedy “Smoke”, and the 2002 crime thriller “Sirens”.

The year 2003 saw her star as Lydia Gray in the crime drama “Unconditional Love”, which also starred Robson Green and Kaye Wragg, and was directed by Ferdinand Fairfax; it follows a criminal who’s kidnapped a boy and is now blackmailing his parents into committing a crime. Sarah revealed that she was pregnant in January 2008, however, their daughter Ella-Jayne was born five weeks premature with Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome, and died in 2009. Sarah gave birth to their second daughter Nell on 21 November 2009.

Since Ella-Jayne’s death, Sarah and her husband have been raising money for the Southampton General Hospital’s Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, and had raised more than £5 million by the end of the year 2020.
