Who is Kevin Selleck, Tom Selleck’s Son?
Kevin Selleck is an American musician, and is best known as the former drummer of the rock band Tonic; however, his fame originates from being the son of prominent actor Tom Selleck.
Kevin Selleck Wiki: Age, Childhood, and Education
Kevin Selleck was born in 1966 in the USA; he is the son of Jacqueline Ray and her lover, who goes by the last name Shepard.
Jacqueline never revealed anything more about Kevin’s biological father, and once she married Selleck, there was apparently no reason to so. Tom adopted Kevin and gave him his last name; though Jacqueline and Tom later divorced, Kevin remained on good terms with Tom and is close to Hannah Margaret Selleck, Kevin’s step-sister from Tom’s marriage to Jillie Mack and he also has a half-sister from his mother’s remarriage to Clarence Barry Witmer, named Umeko.
Kevin was a troubled teenager, so turned to sports, which resulted in a volleyball career while at university – after high school Kevin enrolled at the University of Southern Carolina. Unfortunately, there is no information as to whether he finished his studies, but though the reports state that he developed a drinking addiction when he was in his early 20s, he had hardly finished his studies. He entered the Betty Ford Center when he was 22 years old, which helped him overcome his alcohol addiction.
Jacqueline Ray’s Imprisonment
Kevin’s mother is now serving an 18 years sentence, after it was discovered that she organized to kill her son-in-law Bauchum Leon, who according to her reports physically and emotionally abused her daughter Umeko, who was his wife. The murder was successful and the killer she contracted is now serving a 29-year sentence.
Career and Further Struggles
Kevin joined the rock band Tonic in 1993, and alongside the original members Emerson Hart, Jeff Russo, and Dan Rothchild. He remained in the band until 1996, when he had an altercation with another band member and decided to leave.
He worked on the band’s debut studio album “Lemon Parade”, released in 1996, which reached No. 28 on the US Billboard 200 chart, while it peaked at No. 12 on the Australian Album chart. Subsequently Kevin started his own band, but without any major success, and since then he has been away from the media. In 2011 he got into financial problems when a credit card company sought $6,000 for an unpaid bill. Tom Selleck helped him financially, and also emotionally to eliminate problems, and since then Kevin has been living a simple life, away from the media buzz.
