He has three siblings: an older brother, John David Washington, who is an actor and producer; an older sister Katia Washington, who is an actress; and a twin-sister Olivia Rachel Washington.
It is known that Denzel called his son Malcolm after the American human rights activist Malcolm X (born Malcolm Little), as Pauletta was already pregnant with Malcolm and Olivia when Denzel started working on the biopic about the famous Muslim minister and controversial activist, who was killed at the age of 39.
