Melanie spent her childhood in her hometown of State College, where she was raised the middle of three children – two brothers – by their parents, Doug and Nancy Collins. She is of American nationality and belongs to the white ethnicity.

After completing her high school education, Melanie enrolled into the John Curley Center for Sports Journalism at Pennsylvania State University, from which she graduated with a BA degree in Broadcast Journalism in 2008. While in her sophomore year, Melanie spent some time working as a bartender, when one of her co-workers asked her if she wanted to work as a weather reporter for AccuWeather, which she obviously accepted, and so started pursuing her career as a journalist. Following her stint there, she also did an internship at WPSU-TV, affiliated to PBS, where she got a chance to work in the position of a co-host of the weekly show “Let’s Talk Sports Nittany Lions Fans”, covering various sports including Penn State baseball, basketball, football and volleyball.

Afterwards, she had another internship at the Big Ten Network (BTN) as a senior, but stayed there even after graduation to cover Penn State football games.

Rise to Fame

Melanie’s career moved to the next level in the mid-2010s, when she joined NBA-TV Atlanta, thanks to her previous experience, and undoubtedly her outstanding academic performance has helped her to climb the ladder of success so rapidly. There she worked for a year in the position of an online host and reporter, after which she gained more popularity and reported for such networks as E! News Now, NBC Sports Network, NASCAR, MLB, CSN Bay Area, PGA, PGA Tour, among many others.

To speak further of her career, Melanie has also covered such major events as the NBA Playoffs, Super Bowl, NFL Draft, FIFA World Cup, as well as the Olympics, adding a considerable amount to her net worth.

Melanie Collins met Scottie Upshall, a professional ice hockey player, in a show, and they began dating in 2009; however, the couple broke up in 2013. In the following year, she started going out with another professional ice hockey player, James Neal, and they are still together. We hope that they will soon exchange their wedding vows and live together forever.
