Who is Mirka Federer?
Swiss former professional tennis player Miroslava ‘Mirka’ Federer was born as Miroslava Vavrincova under the zodiac sign Aries in Bojnice, Slovakia on 1 April 1978. It was in 2002 that she retired from tennis because of a foot injury, and was at that time ranked in the top 100 female tennis players in the world.
Mirka’s perhaps known best for being the wife of Roger Federer, a former professional tennis player who’s widely regarded as one of the best players of all time. Roger was ranked best player in the world in singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals for 310 weeks, including a world record 237 consecutive weeks. Roger’s retired from tennis just recently, on 15 September 2022, in a doubles match which he and his long-time rival and friend Rafael Nadal lost against Frances Tiafoe and Jack Sock.
Education and early life
Mirka spent only the first two years of her life in Bojnice, as her family then emigrated to Switzerland; she was raised by her parents who owned a jewelry business, but Mirka hasn’t shared many details about them because she respects their privacy. She’s yet to speak about having siblings, so most of Mirka’s fans believe her to be an only child.
She studied at a local elementary school in Switzerland, and was nine when her father took her to Germany to watch a tennis tournament; Mirka met Czech-American former professional tennis player Martina Navratilova there, who advised her to try to play tennis.
Mirka studied at a local high school in Bottmingen, Switzerland, and upon matriculating in 1996, chose to focus on tennis rather than pursue a college degree.
Mirka’s career
Mirka won 202 of her 361 singles matches (56 percent win rate), and her best performance was reaching the third round of the US open in 2001.
She had a foot injury for years, which led Mirka to retire from professional tennis in 2002.
She then began working as her husband’s public relations manager, and has since travelled all around the world with him, often cheering for him at his matches.

Love life and marriage
Mirka and Roger prefer to keep their marriage away from media, but some details about it are still known.
They met when they both represented Switzerland at the 2000 Sydney Olympics; the two eventually married in a small and private ceremony on 11 April 2009 at Wenkenhof Villa in Riehen, Switzerland. Mirka gave birth to their identical twin daughters Charlene and Myla on 23 July 2009, and their fraternal twin sons Leo and Lennart followed on 6 May 2014; all four were baptized in the Catholic faith.
