An actress with over 45 acting credits to her name, Adrianne Palicki rose to prominence playing Tyra Collette in the sports drama “Friday Night Lights”, which followed the story of the Dillon Panthers, one of the best high school teams, and their coach, Eric Taylor. Adrianne played a teenager who is one of the rare people in town who doesn’t follow the team religiously, and who dreams of leaving Dillon behind.

Another of Adrianne’s notable roles is her portrayal of Kelly Grayson in the series “The Orville”, which earned her two Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films/ Saturn Awards for Best Actress in a Television Series.

Early life, family, and education

Born Adrianne Lee Palicki under the zodiac sign of Taurus on 6 May 1983, in Toledo, Ohio USA, she holds American nationality and comes from a family of Polish and Hungarian descent from her father’s side, while through her mother, she has English and German heritage. She was raised by her parents, Jeffrey and Nancy, alongside her elder brother, Eric.

As a child, Adrianne had an interest in sports; she ran track and played basketball. Her interest in acting developed in high school, when she appeared on stage for the first time. She continued playing sports, and was also runner-up for homecoming queen in her high school.

Speaking of her educational background, she attended Whitmer High School, and upon matriculating in 2001, she didn’t go to college but moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue her acting career, meantime working as a sandwich maker to support herself until she landed her first role.

Roles in movies

Adrianne made her acting debut as Rachel in the 2003 short movie “Getting Rachel Back”, followed by her role as Judy Robinson in the 2004 TV movie “The Robinsons: Lost in Space”. Her first big-screen appearance came the following year when she was cast to play Whitney in the romantic comedy “Popstar”, but which was poorly rated by the audience (2.5/10).

Adrianne was next seen playing supporting roles in “Seven Mummies” (2006), “Women in Trouble” (2009), “Legion” (2010), and “Red Dawn” (2012), then in the following year came her first major movie role, cast to play Jaye in the science-fiction adventure “G. I. Joe: Retaliation”, starring opposite Bruce Willis, Dwayne Johnson and Channing Tatum – Adrianne’s performance brought her a nomination for the Teen Choice Award- Choice Movie Actress: Action.

Adrianne was next seen as Ms. Perkins in the 2014 hit movie “John Wick”, starring Keanu Reeves, followed by her role as Sunny in the 2015 romantic comedy “Baby, Baby, Baby”, starring opposite Brian Klugman, who also wrote and directed this movie which followed the story of two totally opposite people who are trying to make their relationship work. It won the Austin Film Festival Jury Award – Comedy Vanguard.

In 2016, Adrianne played Bobbi Morse in the TV movie “Marvel’s Most Wanted”, which was a spin-off from the popular series “Agents of S. H. I. E. L. D.” – although having no nominations, the audience liked it, and rated it 7.4/10.

Adrianne followed with her role as Ellen Dwyer in the 2017 action movie “S.W.A.T.: Under Siege”, also starring Sam Jaeger. Her next movie role came in the 2021 drama “With/In: Volume 2”, followed by appearing as Senator Barnes in the critically acclaimed 2022  short movie “Thoughts and Prayers”.

Most recently, Adrianne was seen as Queen Catherine in the 2023 comedy-drama “Quasi”, written and directed by Kevin Heffernan, however, that’s not all: Adrianne will be seen starring as Shannon in the announced TV movie “A Christmas in New Hope”, currently in development.

Roles in series

Adrianne’s first TV series appearance was her portrayal of Kara in an episode of the series “Smallville” in 2004. From 2005 through 2009, she had a recurring role as Jessica Moore in the series “Supernatural”. Concurrently, in 2006, she was seen in less than 10 episodes of the series “South Beach”.

Later in 2006, Adrianne was cast to play her breakthrough role as Tyra Collette in “Friday Night Lights”, which had 103 award nominations and 18 wins, including three Primetime Emmys, with Adrianne and the rest of the cast winning two Golden Derby TV Awards for Ensemble of the Year, in 200, and ’09. The show aired until 2011, and Adrianne was seen in 52 episodes.

Her next notable TV series roles came in 2014, when she played Doctor Samantha Lake in the comedy-drama “About a Boy”, followed by her portrayal of Bobbi Morse in “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” From 2014 through 2016, Adrianne made an appearance in 31 episodes of this action-adventure drama, which follows the lives and missions of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division, also starring Ming-Na Wen, Clark Gregg and Brett Dalton. The show had 48 award nominations and six wins.

In the following year, Adrienne was cast to play Kelly Grayson in “The Orville”; from 2017 through 2022, she was seen in 36 episodes starring opposite Seth MacFarlane and Penny Johnson Jerald in this story set 400 years into the future, which followed the crew of Orville on their exploration mission. Among other award nominations and wins, the show won the Saturn Award for Best Science Fiction Television Series.

Many fans of the show would like to know if there will be a fourth season of the show, however, for now, Seth MacFarlane, also the creator of the show, has said that season four has not yet been commissioned.

Love life and relationships

Being a celebrity may be challenging at times, particularly when you are the target of rumors. Adriane, although secretive when it comes to her romantic life, has been the subject of various speculations about her dating history, and was romantically linked to some of her co-stars.

What is known is that she was in a relationship with D.J. Cotrona from 2011 to 2013. Later that year, she met her future fiancée, Jackson Spidell, while she was filming “John Wick”, and Jackson worked as a stuntman. In September 2014, Adrianne’s representative confirmed the news about their engagement, however, the two separated in 2015.

While filming “The Orville”, Adrianne began dating her co-star, Scott Grimes. The two became engaged in January 2019, and married on 19 May of that year. Just two months later, on 22 July, Adrianne filed for divorce, but in November she requested to dismiss the filing, which the judge granted. However, in July 2020, Adrianne again filed for divorce, finalized later that year.

As of August 2023, it seems that Adrianne is in a relationship. Judging by her Instagram posts and photos, she is dating Tobias Hernandez, a non-celebrity. Most recently, Adrianne posted their joint photos from a vacation in Italy.
