Early life and education

Sara is one of those people who prefer to keep their personal matters to themselves – she hasn’t shared much about her early years of life with the public, and there is nothing known about her parents and any siblings.

During one of her interviews, Sara stated that she grew up on the internet, and was keeping up with everything with the help of her Twitter account.

After she matriculated from a local high school in San Francisco, she enrolled at San Francisco University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Online Journalism in 2012. While she was still studying at the university, she was working with the school newspaper, and became friends with Bay Area TV reporter Joe Vazquez who offered to give her a tour of his newsroom. ‘It was the first time I ever stepped into a TV newsroom. He showed me around. A little while later, I was hired as a production assistant, which is the bottom of the totem pole. It’s even lower than that. It’s the part of the totem pole that’s stuck in the ground.’

She was very active during her time at the university – she was an online managing editor of the weekly publication entitled “Golden Gate Xpress” which has won numerous awards. She was very good at drawing and was therefore sketching and drawing for the publication as well – it won multiple awards while she was the ‘leader’.

Career

She used the internet for most of the things she did – before she became a reporter and an anchor, she worked as a cashier at a pizza place, and she found the job online.

Her first job in the broadcasting industry was for the KPIX-TV station as their production assistant and writer – it is a CBS-owned station which operates in San Francisco. She wasn’t very satisfied with her job there, and she soon moved to work for KRIS-TV as their reporter and anchor – it was the first serious step into her career as she was the one to cover several significant stories. such as the deadly flooding in Texas which was responsible for the death of three Corpus Christi families, as well as the death of the town’s police chief.

She worked for the KRIS-TV station for two years before she joined the KPRC 2 team, and still works as the anchor of the KPRC Channel 2 News which airs at 4 p.m., while she also reports on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. She is now a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.

KPRC TV virtual channel 2 is yet another NBC-affiliated TV station, which is licensed in Houston, Texas, and is owned by the Graham Media Group. The station’s studios are based in Southwest Freeway of the Sharpstown district while its transmitter is set in Missouri City, in Fort Bend County.

KPRC is the biggest NBC affiliate by its market size. The station first aired on 1 January 1949 which makes it 70 years old – it was called KLEE-TV in 1949 and 1950 but was then renamed to what it is called today.

TV and reporting aren’t the only things Sara is interested in – she loves competing on the Jeopardy quiz show, she is a big animal lover and has two Doberman Pinscher dogs named Hiwa and Sula – ‘they are the sweetest, most loving dogs. I will never have any dogs other than Dobermans. Plus, they scare the you-know-what out of people’, Sara stated. She is also a big fan of eating – her favorite choice will always be double-doubles from In-N-Out Burger place.
