Born Alexander Sasha Roiz on the 21st October 1973, in Tel Aviv, Israel, he is of Russian Jewish ancestry. His parents moved to Canada in 1980 in one of the country’s biggest exoduses, and settled in Montreal, where he finished high school, and then started studying history. However, he soon joined a theatre school in Montreal, and obtained a degree in acting from the Guildford School of Acting in Guildford.

Career Beginnings

Sasha’s career started in the early 2000s, with a minor role in the TV action-adventure series “Largo Winch”. He continued with another one-time appearance, this time in the TV series “1-800-Missing” in 2003, and the same year secured his first recurring role, as Stephen Lyles in the TV crime-drama series “Playmakers”. He continued to build up his career, and in 2004 made his film debut as Parker in the BAFTA-winning sci-fi adventure film “The Day After Tomorrow”, starring Dennis Quaid, Jake Gyllenhaal and Emmy Rossum.

In 2007 he was selected for the lead role in the mystery-drama series “Across the River to Motor City”, but the show wasn’t very successful. Following the end of “Grimm”, he started looking for new roles and in 2017 was chosen for the part of Monroe Bennett in the TV series “Salvation” (2017-2018), while most recently, he made an appearance in the fourth season of the highly acclaimed TV fantasy drama series “Lucifer”, and also he featured in eight out of 10 episodes of the last season of “Suits” (2019), and in the drama series “Departure”. He is currently working on the comedy series “Nice Iranian Girl”, scheduled for release late in 2019.
