Who is Darlene Mowry?
Darlene Renée Flowers was born in the Bahamas on 25 October 1956 – her zodiac sign is Scorpio, and she holds both Bahamian and American nationality. She’s a US Army veteran, but is probably known best for being the mother of Tia Mowry, a famous American actress.
Early life and education
Darlene was raised in the Bahamas by her parents, however, not a lot about them is known because she respects their privacy; it’s believed that her father was a mailman, and that her mother was a high school teacher. Darlene hasn’t mentioned having any siblings, and is thus believed to be an only child.
She grew up being physically highly active, as she enjoyed playing sports with her peers, and was also into dancing and cycling.
Darlene studied at a local high school in Miami, Florida, and excelled in running track during her four years there.
Upon matriculating in 1974, she joined the US Army and thus didn’t enroll at college.
Darlene’s career
Darlene spent three years in the US before the Army sent her to serve in Gelnhausen, West Germany; she stayed there for a couple of years, and eventually reached the rank of Sergeant. Upon leaving the army and settling in California, USA, she became a security guard.
Following her daughter’s success in the film industry, Darlene began working as a film producer. Her debut was the popular 2000 family fantasy comedy movie “Seventeen Again”, directed by Jeffrey W. Byrd, and which starred her twin daughters Tia and Tamera Mowry-Housley.
The movie follows two elderly people who have accidentally been transformed into teenagers, and it won one of the six awards for which it was nominated.
Darlene produced the 2001 family science fiction comedy movie “The Poof Point”, which starred her son Tahj Mowry; her only other producing credit was the 2010 romantic comedy film “Double Wedding”, which also starred her twin daughters.
Love life and marriage
Darlene met Timothy John ‘Tim’ Mowry while they were attending the same high school, and they then agreed to enlist in the US Army together; they exchanged vows in 1975, when they were both 18 years old.
Darlene gave birth to their twin daughters Tia and Tamera, on 6 July 1978, while she and Tim were stationed in Gelnhausen; she gave birth to their son Tahj Dayton Mowry on 17 May 1986, in Honolulu, Hawaii USA, and their second son Tavior Mowry followed on 5 July 1993, born in Agoura Hills, California.
After 40 years married, Darlene and Timothy divorced in 2015.
