Early life and education

Sean was raised in Houston alongside his sisters Vickie and Bambi (adopted), and brothers Don and Patrick, by their father Jesse Wayne Swayze who was an engineering draftsman, and their mother Patsy Swayze (nee Karnes), who was a dancer and choreographer; Jesse passed away in 1982, aged 57, and Patsy died in 2013, aged 86.

Sean grew up being interested in numerous activities, and was mostly into sports while attending Waltrip High School; he was on his school’s football team, and also played basketball and soccer. He was also interested in acting, looking up with his brother Patrick who had already launched a career in the film industry, however, even though Sean appeared in a couple of school plays, it didn’t take long for him to realize that he wasn’t as talented as Patrick to succeed as an actor.

He matriculated in 1980, and because he hasn’t spoken of his further education, most people believe that Sean didn’t attend college.

Sean’s career

Sean hasn’t shared many details about his career with the public, and it’s only known that he worked as a driver on the popular 1998 mystery crime movie “Letters from a Killer”.

It was directed by David Carson, starred his brother Patrick, Kim Myers and Gia Carides, and follows a man who was framed for killing his wife and sent to jail, and now that he’s been released, has been framed for another murder.

It’s widely believed that Sean has been working as a personal driver for the past two decades.

Love life and wife

Sean is highly secretive when it comes to sharing the details of his love life with his fans, but has still allowed them to have a glimpse into it. He married non-celebrity American woman Jami Swayze on 12 November 1988, in a private ceremony attended by only the closest of their friends and family members; it’s believed that the two were high school sweethearts, but this hasn’t been confirmed by Sean. They have a daughter, Cassie Swayze together.

Hobbies and other interests

Sean is a lover of animals, with lions and tigers being his favorites; he has been to a number of zoos in the USA, and has apparently also gone on safari in Africa.

He’s clearly into travelling, and has been to several US states, as well as to many countries on other continents, while his dream travel destination seems to be Rome, Italy.

Sean has his own favorite actors and actresses, some of whom are Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp and Julia Roberts, while a couple of his favorite movies include “Rain Man”, the franchise “Pirates of the Caribbean”, and “Notting Hill”.

Age, height and net worth

What marked the ‘90s for him was perhaps his portrayal of Jack in the hit family fantasy movie “Three Wishes”, directed by Martha Coolidge, and in which he starred alongside Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio and Joseph Mazzello. The film follows Jeanne Holman who has picked up a tramp and offered him comfort at her and her family’s home – it was nominated for a Young Artist Award for Best Performance by an Actor Under Ten – Feature Film (Joshua Haines).

In 2001, Patrick played Jim Cunningham in the evergreen mystery science fiction movie “Donnie Darko”, which won 12 of the 28 awards for which it was nominated. His three final roles prior to his death were in the 2007 biographical movie “Jump!”, the 2009 action crime series “The Beast” and later that year the drama movie “Powder Blue”.

Patrick won seven of the 18 awards for which he was nominated – his wins include a 1988 Bravo Otto Germany Award for Best Actor (Schauspieler), a 1992 ShoWest Award for Male Star of the Year, and a 2009 Houston Film Critics Society Lifetime Achievement Award.

Patrick married American actress and dancer Lisa Miemi on 12 June 1975, and they remained together until his death; they didn’t have children.
