Melina’s career started in the early ‘90s with the role of Eleni Andros Cooper in the daytime soap opera “Guiding Light”; she remained on the show between 1991 and 1994, after which she continued with other TV roles, first as Victoria Metcalf in the TV series “Due South” in 1995, and later that year as Benita Alden in the crime-drama series “NYPD Blue”. She continued to build a name for herself, and in 1996 made her film debut, portraying Trin in the action crime-drama film “The Long Kiss Goodnight”, starring Geena Davis, Samuel L. Jackson, and Yvonne Zima, while in 1997 she portrayed Libby Galante in the TV drama series “Leaving Las Vegas”.
