Acting Career
In the mid-1990s, Larter started getting featured on television as a guest in numerous popular televisions shows, including “Dawson’s Creek”, “Chicago Hope”, and “Just Shoot Me!” This eventually led to her film debut in 1999’s “Varsity Blues”, on which she worked with Amy Smart and James Van Der Beek, playing one of the love interests of the main characters. She would then have a supporting role in the film “Drive Me Crazy”, and afterwards was cast in the remake of “House on Haunted Hill”, which had negative reviews but did well in the box office.
Resident Evil, and Later Work
In 2005, Ali auditioned successfully for the television series “Heroes”, leading her to be cast as Niki Sanders and Tracy Strauss. The show proved very successful during the early seasons before it was cancelled. Her next notable role was in “Resident Evil: Extinction” alongside Milla Jovovich, the film based on the video game series “Resident Evil”, and playing one of the video game’s iconic characters, Claire Redfield. She also received praise for her performance in the film “Obsessed”, which got her a Teen Choice Award nomination.

In 2010, she reprised her role of Claire Redfield in “Resident Evil: Afterlife”, and then took a break from acting to focus on her family. She returned in 2014, appearing in a few films before starring in the final “Resident Evil” film entitled “Resident Evil: The Final Chapter”, which earned mixed response but was able to gross over $312 million, making it her biggest box office success. One of her latest projects is the series “Pitch”, which focuses on the first woman to play Major League Baseball.

For her personal life, Larter is married to actor Hayes MacArthur since 2009 – they met on the set of “Homo Erectus”, got engaged in 2007, and were married two years later at MacArthur’s parent’s estate located in Kennebunkport, Maine, attended by close friends including Amy Smart as well as family members.
