German was born in Huntington Beach, California and is of Dutch and English descent. She studied at Los Alamitos High School as well as Orange County High School of the Arts. She later on attended University of Southern California and majored in anthropology.

German’s career started on stage, appearing in the productions of “Peter Pan” and “Oliver.” Then in 2000, she was able to nab a role in the romantic comedy film “Down to You.” In 2002, German received a career breakthrough when she joined the cast of the movie “A Walk to Remember”, the movie adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ book of the same name. Her role of Belinda, the ex-girlfriend of Landon Carter played by Shane West became an iconic character among the fans of the movie, the success of which helped establish her career as an actress and also really established her net worth.

German then appeared in other movies, including “Dead Above Ground”, “A Midsummer Night’s Rave” and “The Lone Ranger”, and also auditioned for the lead role in the movie “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” in 2003, but the role was given to Jessica Biel and she garnered the role of The Hitchhiker. Other films that German has appeared in include “Born Killers”, “Rx”, and “It Is Fine! Everything Is Fine.” In 2007, she also joined the cast of the horror flick “Hostel: Part II” with Quentin Tarantino as one of its producers.

She also appeared in two episodes of “Chicago P.D.”, playing the same role. Today, German is still active as an actress recently joining the cast of the series “Lucifer” in 2016.
