Early Life and Education

Alaska Thunderfuck spent his childhood in his hometown, where he attended Fort LeBoeuf High School. He has a half-brother, Cory Binney, who is a part of his own web series “Bro’Laska”. Upon matriculation in 2003, he enrolled in the University of Pittsburgh, where he studied Theater.

How did Alaska Thunderfuck become famous?

Right after graduation, Alaska Thunderfuck moved to Los Angeles, California in order to pursue a career as an actor, however, Alaska – or at that time Jason – did not achieve any success at auditions, so made the decision to change his look as well as his name, and started performing as a drag queen at the Hollywood club, Fubar, and gradually his drag personality started becoming more known, as he became a part of the Trannyshack shows in Los Angeles. Alaska’s next move forward happened in 2009, when he distinguished himself with his talents during the Gay Pride in Palm Springs, next to Tammie Brown and JerBer Jones. During the same year, he met his future boyfriend Sharon Needles, and went back to Pennsylvania, forming with him and Cherri Baum the Haus of Haunt band, which became known as a drag troupe, and performed at the bar Blue Moon.

The Winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars

Alaska made his breakthrough in 2013, when he became one of the official cast members in the fifth season of the reality competition series “RuPaul’s Drag Race”, finishing in second place. Since then, his career as a drag queen has only gone upwards, as he participated in the second season of another reality competition series entitled “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars”, becoming the winner in 2016.

Musical Career

Alaska launched his musical career in 2013, when he released his debut single “RuGirl”, and two years later out came his debut full-length studio album entitled “Anus”, which peaked at No. 3 on the US Dance chart. He released his second studio album “Poundcake” in 2016, reaching No. 4 on the US Dance chart and spawning such hit singles as “Gimme All Your Money”, featuring Laganja Estranja, “Puppet” and “The T”, featuring Adore Delano.

Acting Career

Alaska started his acting career in 2013, when he starred in the role of Dr. Frank N. Furter in the Woodlawn Theatre’s production of “The Rocky Horror Show”. Most recently, he featured as Hattie in the short horror film “The Quiet Room” in 2017, and it has been announced that he will feature in the film “Joey Stefano”, scheduled for released in late 2018. Furthermore, he is also the creator of the web series “Bro’Laska” (2014-present), after which he launched other web series including “Shane And Friends” and “Dragula”  both in 2017, and “The Pit Stop” in 2018.
