Career Beginnings

Almost immediately after graduating Amy launched her career, when she was hired by The Cook Political Report, a non-partisan online newspaper, focused on analyzing and commentating on elections and campaigns for the US House of Representatives and the Senate, as well as state Governor’s offices, and the American Presidency as well. She joined the newspaper in 1997, and for the next ten years she was the senior editor covering the US House of Representatives. Gradually, through experience and effective reporting and analyzing, she became more popular with political analysts, and soon became one of them. She was eventually promoted to the position of a national editor of The Cook Political Report, a position she still holds.

Rise to Prominence

In addition, Amy has been a part of the ABC News in Washington DC as political director, responsible for all political coverage on ABCNews.com. Additionally, she gave on-air analysis on ABC News programs such as “Good Morning America”, “World News with Diane Sawyer” and “Nightline”, among others, providing her analyses and comments in regards to the political state in the country. This has made her a star political analyst, continuing to improve her career, and joining other television networks, including CBS, PBS, and CNN, contributing to “PBS NewsHour”, “Fox News Sunday”, and “Real Time with Bill Maher”.  Most recently, Amy started a panel discussion about Democrat’s chances to control the House of Representatives once the November elections end.

  2. Anyone with an ounce of brain material can discern that Amy is a conservative. Being a lesbian is NOT an automatic indicator one is lgbtqxyz.

    My husband, lacking brain material isn’t familiar with Tammy Bruce, for example or the log cabin republicans.
