Shapiro is white and was born into a family of Jewish ancestry, which immigrated from Russia. In late 2013, Ben co-founded Truth Revolt, an activist news website working in association with the David Horowitz Freedom Center, having already served as editor-at-large of Breitbart News, a website established by Andrew Breitbart, but which he resigned from in early 2016, stating that the website lacked support for Michelle Fields, who was allegedly assaulted by Corey Lewandowski, a farmer manager for Donald Trump’s campaign. As of late September 2015, Shapiro established The Daily Wire, a website dedicated to conservative news, and as of today, he serves as editor-in-chief, whereas Michael Knowles works as managing editor and Jeremy Boreing as chief operating officer.
