Valeria Golino, born on the 22nd of October, 1965, is an Italian actress and director who became known through her roles in “Rain Man”, “Big Top Pee-wee”, and two “Hot Shots!” films. She is a multi-awarded actress, one of only three actresses to have twice won the Best Actress award at the Venice Film Festival.

Golino was born in Naples, Italy, and is of Italian descent through her father – a Germanist scholar – and Greek through her mother, Lalla, who was an artist. In 1986 Golino starred in “A Tale of Love” wherein she was rewarded with the Silver Ribbon award for Best Actress, the oldest and most prestigious critics’ prize in Italian cinema. She then starred in “The Gold Rimmed Glasses” and “Three Sisters,” and was now catapulted to stardom, and she also significantly increased her net worth.
