The move came as an unexpected one as Carl Grimes in the comics – which is way ahead of the television series – has seen Carl survive up to the present day. The decision also shocked cast members involved in the show, as they had grown close over the past eight seasons. Prior to the eighth season, Chandler had decided to take a break from school for a while, to focus on his role in “The Walking Dead” not knowing that the show would eventually kill him off.
