Who is Devin Nunes?
Devin Gerald Nunes was born on 1 October 1973, in Tulare, California USA, and is a politician, best known for serving as a US Representative for California’s 22nd congressional district, a position he’s held since 2003. He also serves as the chairman of the US House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

Early Life, Education, and Career Beginnings
David is of Portuguese (Azorean) descent, and was born into a family who operated a farm in Tulare County. He grew up with one younger brother, and attended the College of the Sequoias where he earned an Associate’s degree. He continued his education at California Polytechnic State University, graduating with a degree in agricultural business, then continued on to complete a master’s degree in agriculture.
Due to his expertise, he was hired in 2001 by President George W. Bush to serve as the California State Director for the Rural Development section of the US Department for Agriculture. The following year, he ran for the Republican nomination in the 21st congressional district, which was a newly created district at the time, and won as he was the only major candidate from Tulare, and had solid endorsements. He has stayed in this position, even running unopposed during the 2010 general election.
US Congress Work
As a part of the congress, Nunes has helped develop numerous policies; he was one of the original co-sponsors of the Roadmap for America’s Future Act, and also introduced the Public Employee Pension Transparency Act. He is known to be vocal on environmental policy, especially when it comes to events relating to agriculture and farmers. He authored the Sacramento-San Joaquin Valley Emergency Water Delivery Act to help restore a dried-up section of the San Joaquin River, and also authored the American-Made Energy Freedom Act.

Devin served on the Trump transition team, and became the first leading House Republican to deny that there was any contact between the campaign and Russian operatives, but eventually, the House Intelligence Committee started to investigate possible Russian interference during the 2016 US presidential elections, and Devin was criticized for not sharing information about the investigation of the Trump campaign. He was investigated by the United States House Committee on Ethics due to improper disclosure of classified information, but the committee later came to the conclusion that the information disclosed was not classified.
He continues to serve as the Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and is a member of the House Balitc Caucus. He has been described as ‘Trump’s second-strongest ally in Congress’ by former Trump campaign CEO Steve Bannon.
Personal Life and Social Media
For his personal life, it is known that Nunes is very proud of his Portuguese descent, and even wrote a foreword to the 2012 edition of the novel “Home Is an Island”. He has been married to elementary school teacher Elizabeth Tamariz since 2003, and they have three daughters together. He has been a big fan of the Boston Celtics basketball team since he was a teenager.
Similar to numerous politicians, Nunes is active on social media, particularly on Twitter and Facebook. He mainly uses his platforms to promote some of his beliefs, and challenge those that are opposing the current presidency. He can also be seen posting pictures with various other high-profile individuals. His Facebook profile on the other hand focuses on agricultural and transportation issues, and others he’s handled in congress. He is also promoting his platform and experience through a personal website, with the upcoming 2018 congressional elections.
