It is known that she’s loved music from an early age, and initially started playing the guitar when she stole her brother’s guitar to try out. PVRIS

Gunn initially started a metalcore band called Operation Guillotine alongside Alex Babinski, and Brian Macdonald. They later added Brad Griffin as a drummer, and the band released their first EP in 2013 describing themselves as a post-hardcore band. They initially played sporadically but would gain popularity after winning an Ernie Ball’s Battle of the Bands competition. They entered the competition as Paris but soon changed the name to PVRIS for legal reasons. They soon parted ways with their drummer, but continued on as a trio, and soon started touring with bands such as A Loss For Words, City Lights, and Veara.

Their sound changed drastically when they started making their first studio album entitled “White Noise”, integrating electronic and pop elements to their music, then signing with Rise and Velocity, and releasing music which would gain them the notice of popular publications such as The Huffington Post. PVRIS would soon tour in Japan as a part of the Ice Grills 2014 tour, before officially announcing their debut album. They continued touring with other bands mainly as a supporting act, and in 2015, they won an award for Best International Newcomer.

Later Work

Their success as a band led them to be featured in numerous events, and in 2016, they set out on their first American headlining tour, and started working on a second album in the city of Utica, in a recording studio supposedly in a haunted church. In 2017, they announced that the album was nearing launch, meantime also working on a short European Tour. The album entitled “All We Know of heaven, All We Need of Hell” was announced with previewing singles, until officially releasing it in August.

PVRIS has been named as a band which blends dreamy electronica music with the dark and heavy beat of rock, and have been noted as a mix of electro-pop and rock. They’ve also been described as alternative rock, post-hardcore, pop, electropop, and psychedelic.
