Who is Meri Brown?

Meri Barber was born on the 16th January 1971, in Alameda, California USA, and known as Meri Brown, is a polygamist and reality television personality, who is probably best recognized for being one of the cast of the reality TV show “Sister Wives” on the TLC channel. She is also known as the only (now ex-) legal wife of Kody Brown.

Before Fame

Mary Brown was brought up by her father, William Barber, Jr., and her mother, Bonnie Ahlstrom, in Utah, in a polygamist family with an unknown number of siblings, as her father has/had five wives, which had a huge impact on her whole life.

Prior to becoming famous as a reality television personality, Mary worked in the mental health industry. However, she was fired in 2010 when her polygamist marriage became the main topic of the aforementioned reality TV show.

 “Sister Wives”

Speaking about her involvement in the entertainment industry, Meri became known as a reality television personality when she started appearing as one of the cast in the reality TV show “Sister Wives”, which has been aired on the TLC channel since September 2010. She appeared in the show as the only legal wife of Kody Brown, along with his other ‘wives’ Christine, Robyn and Janelle Brown and their 18 children.

In addition, Meri has co-written the book “Becoming Sister Wives: The Story Of An Unconventional Marriage” with her family, and published it in May of 2012.

Marriage and Divorce

Meri became engaged to Kody in December 1989, and the two married in the following year. In 1993, Kody spiritually married Meri’s friend Janelle Shcriever, which was followed by his next marriage to Christine Allred in the 1994. In 1995, Meri and Kody welcomed their daughter, Mariah Brown, who is known in the media as lesbian. Five years later, he spiritually married Robyn Sullivan, and finally, to date, in December of 2014, Meri and Kody decided to divorced, so that he could become legally married to Robyn.

Meri’s Business Ventures

Meri became involved in the business industry when she decided to work for the women’s clothing company called LuLaRoe, which was established by DeAnne Stidham in 2012. The company is a multi-level organisation, so Meri launched her official Facebook page in order to increase her selling of the company’s products.

Additionally, Meri runs the jewelry and clothing line called My Sisterwife’s Closet with her husband and sister wives.

To speak further about her business ventures, Meri also launched the bed and breakfast property called Lizzie’s Heritage Inn in December of 2017, which is named after her great-grandmother Lizzie, and located in Parowan, Utah.

Meri Brown Net Worth

She has been an active member of the entertainment industry since 2010, primarily known as a reality television star. Besides that, Meri is also known for being involved in the business industry. So, have you ever wondered how rich Meri Brown is? According to various sources, it has been estimated that the total size of Meri’s net worth is over $400,000. Another source of her wealth is coming from the sales of her family’s book. Apparently before the reality TV series, the family was virtually bankrupt, saved only by the income from the show.

Catfishing Scandal

Meri inadvertently achieved enormous popularity through a ‘catfishing’ scandal in October 2015, when she met a man named Sam Cooper via Twitter. They communicated online for more than six months, and he claimed to be a 44-year-old businessman from Chicago, Illinois, who has twin boys with his wife.

However, she eventually found out that Sam is a woman, whose name is Jackie Overton, and who has released two books about the scandal – “Almost Meri’ed” and “Almost Defame’ed: Life After A Public Scandal” – both in 2016.

The series “Sister Wives” is still proving extremely popular, so stand-by for the next gripping installment of the Brown family on TLC TV.
