Of Persian, Italian and Spanish ancestry, Mikaela is the first child born to Nancy and Frank R. Hoover, Jr. – Mikaela has three siblings. From an early age, she was drawn to the performing arts, starting ballet lessons when only two years old, and as she got older, she would take steps to become a professional actress, although she had other interests during her school years, as she was a part of the cheerleading and debating teams in her high school. Upon matriculating, Mikaela enrolled in Loyola Marymount University’s theatre program in Los Angeles, from which she received a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Career Beginnings

Once she earned her degree, Mikaela started pursuing an acting career and her first audition was for the role of Cami in the web-based soap opera “SamHas7Friends” in 2006. The following year she portrayed Heather in the family comedy-drama film “Frank”, while in 2008 she was chosen for the part of Madison Westerbrook in the TV mystery series “Sorority Forever”. After that, Mikaela played Mackenzie in the drama film “Lost Dream” in 2009, and in 2010 had a minor role in the action comedy-drama film “Super”, starring Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page and Liv Tyler; The film was her first collaboration with the award-winning director James Gunn, and the two will later develop a rather close business relationship.
