Miss Florida
Before deciding upon launching her career and even finishing her studies, Shannon wanted to try out her good looks. She entered the Miss Florida pageant in 1995. and was named the winner, which got her into competition for Miss USA the same year. Unfortunately, Shannon failed to win this completion, but was named the fourth most beautiful women.
Law Career
While at the Florida State University, Shannon completed her internship working for Florida Congressman Bill McCollum in the US House of Representatives, and after graduating, Shannon launched her law career, ultimately becoming the Florida Attorney General. However, in the early 2000s, she decided to leave her post and start a career on TV.
Television Career
Shannon moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, for a job at WBTV, a CBS affiliate, serving as an evening and late-night news reporter. Three years later, Shannon left WBTV for WRC-TV in Washington DC, an NBC affiliate, where she was a weekend anchor while also covering general assignments. Gradually her role at the station rose along with her knowledge and confidence. She then met Brit Hume, who at the time was the Fox News Channel’s Washington bureau managing editor, and with his help submitted an audition tape to Fox News.
