During her time in the university, she was the host and associate producer of the show “The Scramble”, and also interned for Republican congresswoman Kristi Noem at the Rapid City office.

Hoping to find an internship leading to work in political commentary, Tomi applied to One American News Network (OANN) which led her to be offered her own show. She moved to San Diego, California to work with OANN, launching “On Point with Tomi Lahren” in 2014. The following year, she gained a lot of attention for commenting on the 2015 Chattanooga shootings, which would later saw her leave OANN and move to Texas so that she could work with “The Blaze”.

The Blaze and Later Career

Lahren’s career with “The Blaze” became well known due to her “final thoughts” segments in which she spoke extremely quickly, but the segment has been criticized more as a rant. In 2016, she then endorsed Marco Rubio for president during the Republican Party presidential primaries, and appeared on “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah” for an interview. The following year, she made a guest appearance on the talk show entitled “The View”, in which she stated that women should have access to abortion, and accused pro-life people for being hypocrites. However “The Blaze” owner Glenn Beck is pro-life and criticized Lahren’s comments, leading to her being suspended with pay.

Eventually, she filed a wrongful termination suit which was later settled in an agreement that Lahren would keep her Facebook page, but would have to remove videos from “The Blaze”. A few months later, she started working with the Great America Alliance, which is an offshoot of Great America PAC, a well-known pro-Donald Trump organization. She later defended her work there saying that it was a side gig, and she would soon return to television as a commentator. Shortly afterwards, she joined Fox News, and started working there as a contributor.

Political Views and Controversaries

Tomi has stated on air that she is a constitutional conservative, and mentions that she is a commentator but not a journalist. She has been accused on numerous occasions for being a racist, but she has strongly disagreed with those statements. However, she has criticized African Americans on various social issues, including Black Lives Matter, the protests against Donald Trump, and NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who has been known to protest racism. In 2017, she mentioned that she was pro-choice which earned criticism from anti-abortion writers, especially after she mentioned that she was pro-life. She later defended her claims in an interview with “Playboy”, stating that she had always supported abortion rights but was personally against it. She is also anti-feminist.

Personal Life and Social Media

For her personal life, it is known that Lahren is in a relationship with Jerad Christian – the two have been dating since 2015. Jerad is a military officer and the two met during date night in San Diego. He is from Utah and is a Navy Seal, based at the Naval Amphibious Base Coronado located in San Diego.
