Early Life: From the Soviet Union to USA

Gary only spent three years in his birthplace before his parents – of unknown identities and professions – decided to flee the country in search of freedom and a better life, and so moved to the USA in 1978, initially to a studio-apartment in Queens, New York City. The family is known to have had eight members aside from Gary at the time, though no more specifics about his siblings are available. After three years in this location, his family moved the short distance to Edison in New Jersey, where Gary during his childhood had a lemonade stand, at which he earned thousands of dollars from also trading baseball cards on weekends. Thus, it’s easy to conclude that Gary always had an interest in becoming an entrepreneur, since he started at a very early age.
