Who is Todd Hoffman?

Born under the sign of Aries on the 12th of April 1969, in Sandy, Oregon USA, Todd Hoffman is a 49-year-old Caucasian gold miner and TV personality of unknown descent. He is perhaps best known to the world for his significant presence on the TV screen as himself in the Discovery channel reality TV series entitled “Gold Rush.” He has also had a number of other successes throughout his sometimes lucrative mineral mining career since the 1990s.

Early Life: Growing up in Oregon

Todd was raised with his sister named Tamra in their birthplace, by their mineral miner father Jack Hoffman, and mother Georgia Hoffman, of an unknown profession. It is unclear when he first developed an interest in what he does today, as well as any of his childhood pursuits. As for his education, it is unknown what high school he attended, though he apparently matriculated in 1988. It is unknown whether he furthered his education by attending college.

Career: From Airplanes to Gold Mining

Todd’s early work career is rather vague, but it is a fact that he was active in the aviation business for a while, leasing a hangar at an airstrip near Portland, Oregon, mostly to corporate officials. However, following the crash of the markets in the fall of 2008, Todd’s business was beginning to crumble. As he himself put it: ‘Travel is one of the first items to get cut once everyone’s earnings get squeezed.’ Hence, he decided to call it quits in this business, and start mining gold on his own. He initially didn’t have enough money to buy his own machines, so he personally built them out of cheap parts, meanwhile barely having enough for the oil to fuel it. This decision came about when he realized what was happening after the crisis, stating: ‘I’m no rocket scientist, but when you start printing money, start doing the things we’re currently doing, …you can’t debase gold, it’s common sense.’ Todd went around mining on his own for a while, until he eventually created a small showreel of what he does in Alaska, and sent it to the Discovery channel. Christo Doyle, a Discovery channel official, stated: ‘We fell in love with it right away. Greenlighting it was a no-brainer.’ The first episode appeared on TV screens on the 3rd of December 2010, and the show is thus far eight seasons long and still ongoing.

He’s Leaving the Show

During “Gold Rush: Live” in mid-February 2018, Todd made the announcement that he will be leaving the show. Many of the fans were baffled by this statement, since Todd is the very man who created it, and he was enjoying massive success because of its subsequent success. However, he explained that being in the show meant he had to be away from his family for five or six months every year, and he simply wants to spend more time with them. That said, he also won’t be leaving empty-handed, since he already has financial plans set in place, to continue hunting for gold, but off-screen, and there’s the fact that he owns a production company called ZUM Media, which he co-created with Jose Behar back in 2016, with the ambition to provide great programming for families.

Love Life: Married to Shauna Hoffman

Nothing is known about Todd’s romantic involvements prior to the one he has spoken about himself in interviews. He has been married to Shauna Hoffman for over 20 years now, and they’ve produced two sons named Hunter and Hudson. As of season six, Hunter can be seen on the show with him, while Hudson is at this point too young to take part in such high-risk professions. There hasn’t been any controversy surrounding their union.

His Musical Hobby

Aside from being a gold miner, Todd Hoffman also has a widely recognized singing voice, having recorded quite a few covers of numerous famous songs thus far, such as “Sound of Silence” by Simon and Garfunkel. Though there is a big interest among the audience for his album, he hasn’t thus far announced any plans on diving deeper into a musical career.

What is Todd Hoffman’s Net Worth?

Close to $5 million. He has made his fortune as a gold miner and reality TV personality, earning the most from his long-term presence on the TV screen as himself in “Gold Rush.”

Body Measurements

His height is 5ft 10ins (1.78m) and his current weight is 198lbs(90kg). His hair is light brown and his eyes are dark brown.
