Early Life and Education
Ami is of American nationality and African-American ethnicity, while further details regarding her birth date – probably in the late 1960s – birthplace as well as her family’s background, parents or siblings have never been publicly revealed to the present day. In 1998 she appeared in a couple of episodes of the “All My Children” TV series, before landing one of her most recognized roles so far – that of Judge Madeline Drake in the television crime drama series “Law & Order”, which she occasionally reprised ’til 2009, through the show’s 12 seasons.
In 2000 Brabson made a guest appearance in several episodes of the TV series “The Beat”, while in 2004 she starred in a couple of episodes of “The Jury” TV series. Between 2004 and 2009, Ami added only a few guest acting appearances to her professional portfolio, including in TV series “Six Degrees”, “Kidnapped” and “Kings”, while between 2009 and 2012 she starred as a Grief Counselor in the television series “Damages”.
In 2012 Ami Brabson was cast for another iconic role of her career – as Judge Karyn Blake in the Golden Globe-winning television crime drama series “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” which she’s portrays ever since. Some of her other most recent on-camera acting appearances also include a guest starring engagement in another TV crime drama series – “Bull”.

In his prosperous on-camera acting career, which has been active since 1989, gaining recognition for starring in an array of TV series including his most memorable appearances as Frank Pembleton in the TV series “Homicide: Life on the Street” which brought him the Primetime Emmy Award in 1998, and as the Captain Raymond Jacob Holt in the police live-action sitcom “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” for which he was honored with the prestigious Primetime Emmy Award in 2015 and 2016. For his great performances in TV series “Gideon’s Crossing” and “Thief”, Andre was twice nominated for Golden Globe awards.
