Briga grew up in a family with a strong artistic heritage. Namely, her father Kevin is an acclaimed playwright and a member of the faculty personnel at Philips Andover Academy, also a playwriting, acting and directing instructor. Her mother, Kimball works as an actress, as well as a teacher at Lowell Public Schools.
She has a brother named Conor. However, even though she hails from a family of actors, Briga initially wanted to be a musician and perform in musical theater, so having matriculated from Walnut Hill School for the Arts, she went on to study at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.
