Dana went to Andover High School in her hometown but later moved to Des Moines, Iowa where she continued her education at Valley High School, from which she matriculated in 1989. During her childhood, she was sexually abused by the family’s babysitter. After matriculation, Dana enrolled at the University of Michigan, from which she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Communication in 1993.

Career Beginnings

Following her graduation, Dana found a place for herself in Traverse City, Michigan, working for WPBN/WTOM-TV. She remained two years at the station, serving as a fill-in news anchor, and weekend sports anchor, while also honing her skills as a producer and editor. Gradually, she was becoming more successful, and compiled a number of successful reports, including on such basketball stars as Mike Bibby, Jason Williams and Chris Webber, among other Sacramento Kings stars of the time after she joined KXTV in Sacramento in 1998, where she started working as a weekend sports anchor, and as a host of the show “News10 Red Zone”.

She remained at KXTV until 2002, concurrently hosting “The NBA Insiders” on KHTK-AM in the same city, where she also stayed until 2002.

Gradually, Dana was becoming more skilled, and was recruited by ESPN to work on ESPNEWS as an anchor. It was in 2005 that she was named the co-host of the show “Cold Pizza”, and when the show became “ESPN First Take”, she continued to host it.

She decided to leave ESPN in 2012, having become one of the most prominent sports journalists and hosts. Her decade long career with ESPN brought her new job offers, including from CBS Sports Network in 2013. In 2015, she was recruited by CBS News, and since then, she has been made the correspondent for the station, and has contributed to a number of popular shows, including “CBS This Morning” (2016-2019), and “CBS This Morning: Saturday”, both as a host and reporter.
