“Don’t be too nice, but don’t be a bitch” “Cover up but don’t dress like a man” “Wear makeup, but not too much” “Speak more directly, but not too assertively” Women are ALWAY walking a tightrope in the workplace—trying not to be “too feminine” for fear that it will undermine their professionalism, or “too masculine” for fear that it will make them unlikeable. ⚖️ This balancing act is tiring and is BS. I’m a lady in the streets and a lady in the conference room ?‍♀️ I’ve always been ultra-feminine and I see it as a strength! Do you. Be you. And while you’re at it, listen to today’s podcast episode (Link in bio) all about expressing your femininity in the workplace w/ @BrainsOverBlonde.

Early life and education

Hannah has not shared much about her teenage years, as she prefers to keep these matters to herself. She was born into a middle-class family and was raised together with her younger sister Jessi by their parents. It is said that Hannah was not as good looking then as today, and had some problems at high school because of her peers bullying her, which is why she avoids talking about these years of her life. She had completely different plans when she was a kid, as she dreamt about becoming a marine biologist.

After she matriculated from a local high school in Los Angeles, Hannah enrolled at Duke University located in Durham in North Carolina, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She was very active at the University and served as the VP of marketing for the Alpha Phi sorority, was the campaign coordinator for Teach for America, and a member of the Quad Council for Business Oriented Women.

The launch of her career

Hannah’s career began the moment she became a host on the “TYT University” YouTube channel, which was launched on 6 December 2010 – ‘TYT’ stands for The Young Turks, and the channel serves to address issues related to colleges and students. The first host of the show was Ana Kasparian, and John Iadarola took her place in 2012. He stayed at the position of the main host until 2014 when he decided to change the show with a goal of getting a wider audience – he hired Hannah for that, and she joined as a production intern in October 2014. Thanks to her ideas and skills, the show was renamed to “ThinkTank”, and Hannah became a co-host and worked alongside John.

The new duo did remarkably well, as the number of subscribers on their channel doubled after just one year – they would mostly discuss topics related to social events, relationships and love, science, politics, and many others. The channel is currently followed by over 1.3 million people and counts nearly 585 million views on all its videos combined – the description of the channel reads ‘Every day ThinkTank challenges preconceptions, exposes amazing new facts and discoveries, explores different perspectives, and inspires you to learn more about the world and the people around you.’

Hannah can also be seen in numerous other “The Young Turks” shows, while the original “The Young Turks” channel currently holds the title of the largest news network on YouTube – she is working for the Turks as both a producer and a guest host. Some of the shows she has appeared in include “The Point”, “TYT Sports”, and “What the Flick?”. Hannah also made a short appearance on the “Styleogue” channel, which is also part of the TYT network.

She is currently working as a host of the podcast “Too Much To Handle”, which she created – on the show, she talks about issues related to gender, and the impact these issues have on everyday life and our culture.

She has also co-hosted a show together with Cynthia LuCiette who works as a reporter for Yahoo News, and Kevan Moezzi who is a comedian – the three of them hosted a test run of a show which lasted for four weeks.

Hannah is a big animal lover and has a dog called Charlie – judging by her Instagram account, she seems to be spending most of her free time with her dog. She visits the gym on a daily basis, and mostly loves to run on a treadmill. She also enjoys travelling, but now only if she can bring her dog with her – she has visited more than 30 countries, and some of her favorite are Peru, Israel and Botswana. She is a big fan of food, but tries not to eat that much because she wants to stay in shape, and keep her weight where it is now – her favorite food is said to be nachos.
