Early life, family
Lisa Mateo, nee Nieve, was born on 19 July 1972 in Brooklyn, New York City, USA, of Puerto Rican parents, though their names and occupations are unavailable. Lisa spent her childhood in Brooklyn with her two sisters, but then her parents moved to New Jersey, and Lisa still lives there. It’s worth mentioning that Lisa’s parents moved to the mainland US when they were young, and talked to their children only in English to make their life a little bit easier than it would be if they only spoke Spanish. Lisa admits that she is not very strong in Spanish because of that, and only studied it in school, but is proud of her Latina heritage.
Education and early career
Lisa started elementary school in Brooklyn, but when she was in the fourth grade, her parents moved to New Jersey, where she proceeded to her secondary school education. After matriculating, Lisa entered the prestigious Rutgers College, graduating with a double major in Journalism and Communications. Several years later she entered Kean University to study meteorology, and graduated in 2016. Lisa is also the holder of the Weathercaster Seal of Approval which was granted to her by the National Weather Association, and also of the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal, which was granted to her by the American Meteorological Society. While studying in the college, she got her first job in print journalism, working for the Suburban Trends and Courier News newspapers.
Working at PIX11, Lisa has been the weather reporter, the weekday morning anchor and fill in anchor for more than ten years. She has come a long way since starting her television career backstage of the TV company in the position of a production assistant, responsible for making coffee and tea for her colleagues, also operating the teleprompter. In several months she proved herself to be a hard-working person, and was promoted to the position of an entertainment producer. Later she became a reporter, a weather anchor and a helicopter traffic reporter, and is famous for reporting on and anchoring several historical events, including the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001 – ‘9/11’ – the suicide bombings at the airport and metro station in Brussels, and Superstorm Sandy’s devastating effects. Lisa is also well-known for her hosting of the “Celebrity Taste Makers” cooking show. Lisa is a member of the New Jersey Council of Physical Fitness and Sport, appointed to that position by the Governor of New Jersey, Chris Christie.
Lisa is now also a private online health and wellness coach. She has a personal site which promotes her as a personality, emphasizing her achievements and competency in such spheres as health and wellness, media and entertainment, and speaking engagements. She offers her services in all those market fields, encouraging new partners to connect with her and discuss their future collaborations. Her list of collaboration offers include collaborations with ambassadorships, sponsored blogs on her personal site, social media posts, Facebook and Instagram live videos, product reviews, YouTube videos, various events where she can be a speaker or a host, giveaways and more. Lisa has been nominated for an Emmy Award twice, for her broadcast and reporting activities.
Personal life, husband Jose, two children
Lisa and her husband Jose were college sweethearts; they dated for several years before marrying on 24 September 1999. They’ve welcomed a son, Jaren, and a daughter, Jiselle. She often posts photos of her children on her Instagram account, sharing their family moments from vacations in Disneyland, several ocean beaches, etc. Lisa’s children are keen on sports just as their mother. Jiselle, Lisa’s daughter, has recently won her baseball “Division 2 Parkway League” championship.

Hobbies and interests
Lisa loves authentic Greek cuisine and often visits Greek restaurants with her husband Jose. She enjoys cooking at home, and admits she loves to cook for her children, since it makes her happy to watch them enjoying the food she has made for them. Lisa is also a pet lover; she loves all kinds of animals and often posts photos with her holding a cat, a dog or a hen. Though she loves pets, she can’t afford having one at home since she is very busy at work and she can’t shift the responsibilities on the other members of her family, so she enjoys playing and spending time with animals when she goes to her friends’ houses.
Social media presence
Lisa has a Facebook page which is followed by more than 18,000 people, and on which she is very active, sharing photos and videos of her working activities and family moments. She is also very active on her Instagram account, on which she has more than 16,500 followers, mostly posting selfies or photos of herself with guests of her program. She had a Twitter account but her profile was last updated in 2012.

Lisa is always busy with her charity activities; she often visits various school fundraisers (and her husband accompanies her to such events), supports North Shore Animal League, which provides help to all animals who suffered during hurricanes and earthquakes.
Lisa has dark-brown hair which is naturally curly, but she likes wearing it straight and loosely curled at the ends. Her eyes are brown and her skin is naturally tanned. As for her favorite clothing style, Lisa prefers to wear sporty clothes when she is not in front of the camera or not on a date with her husband – one can see her wearing a comfortable hoodie while she’s preparing for work. As for her vital statistics, there isn’t any precise information, neither her height and weight are available. You can see that she keeps fit since she is a passionate sports fan and also a fitness coach now, sticking to a healthy diet, and spending time in the gym.
WPIX is said to pay an average salary of $85,725 per year for a reporter. Lisa is sure to get more since she is the host in two programs there, especially since her net worth is estimated by sources at over $1 million. She is also a partner and an Ambassador of ProsourceFit, a shop of sport products, acupressure mats and other sports gear for workouts, so she probably benefits a good amount of money from this contract.
