Kacie McDonnell was born on 30th July 1990 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA. She is a 28 year-old news anchor, reporter and a former model. McDonnell gained national attention while working as a sideline reporter and pre-game host for Kansas City’s NBC 41 and for Sporting KC. Kacie grew up in her hometown of Philadelphia with her two siblings – Lochlan and Isabelle – raised by their parents Ken and Michele McDonnell. During her high school years, Kacie started modeling, and competing in beauty pageants, and during her final year of high school, she won the “Miss Teen Pennsylvania International” title. Kacie also developed an interest towards communications and media, thus deciding to enroll at Villanova University, graduating after four years with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, and starting her career on television shortly thereafter.
Thanks to her experience with being in front of the camera, as well as her educational background, McDonnell was able to quickly land a job in her field of interest, as an anchor at FOX 29 in Philadelphia. In Kansas City, Kacie’s work included a number of activities; she was a morning reporter for “41 Action News”, working from 4 A.M. until noon every weekday. As a morning reporter, she mainly covered breaking stories, various entertainment activities and some sports. After the morning show, she would then go to Sporting Park where she would talk to fans, team management and players, creating a variety of content from sideline reporting to pre and post-game shows, news articles and other – her main sports focus was on Major League Soccer (MLS).
In addition, Kacie had her own segment called “Kacie Do My Job”, which depicted her in a variety of roles, from firefighter, waste water facility worker, pizza maker, ice cream factory worker, spa personnel to many others. She would spend a day with the workers and receive instructions on how to perform her new “job”. This segment was hugely popular on NBC 41, and helped cement Kacie’s status as a well-respected journalist and reporter.

Work at NESN
The next destination in Kacie’s career was Boston. She moved there after she landed a job at New England Sports Network, and her role included coverage of almost all of Boston’s major sports teams – the Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics and New England Patriots. In addition to her work as an anchor and sideline reporter, McDonnell also writes sports-related articles for NESN’s official website. Even though her work at NESN brought her even more national recognition, in June 2019 Kacie found herself amidst a controversy.
Namely, during a segment called “Social Stretch”, which focuses on funny events surrounding games and other sporting events, while commenting on a fan who was eating mayonnaise directly from the tub and spilled it on his shirt, McDonnell uttered: ‘It looks like he spilled a little bit on his T-shirt, on his guinea tee there’. Several of viewers brought it to Twitter to express their shock and disgust over what they deemed was insensitive racial slur, since the word “guinea” was historically used as a derogative term for Italians. However, Kacie apologized for her slip-up, and was supported by fans and other news outlets, who deemed that the backlash was exaggerated and unnecessary.
When it comes to how much money the NESN anchor and reporter is making, authoritative sources have estimated that her net worth at around $300,000.
