Who is Mario Casas?
Spanish actor Mario Casas Sierra was born in A Coruna, Galicia, Spain, on 12 June 1986, making Gemini his zodiac sign. He has 52 acting credits, and is perhaps known best for starring as H. in the hit 2010 romantic action movie “Three Steps Above Heaven”, which also starred Alvaro Cervantes and Maria Valverde, and was directed by Fernando Gonzalez Molina. It follows an imprudent man and a privileged girl who’ve fallen in love, and the film won two of its four award nominations.

Education and early life
Mario was raised in A Coruna alongside his sister Sheila and brothers Christian and Oscar, by their father Ramon Casas who was a cabinet maker, and mother Heidi who was a housewife; Ramon was 19 when Mario was born, while Heidi was 17.
The family moved to Barcelona when Mario was four, and he was discovered by a talent agent not long after this. Mario could’ve been seen appearing in commercials for Telepizza, Scalextric and Cola Cao, and was nine when he made his debut film appearance, portraying Viajero in the 1995 short drama “Cercanías Renfe: La Nueva Forma de Moverse”; he’s been active in the film industry ever since.
Mario studied at the acting school Cristina Rota, and upon matriculating in 2004 chose to continue acting rather than to go after a college degree.
Roles in movies
The year 1996 saw Mario appear in two movies: the short drama “Barbie: Hueles a Barbie, Muneca” and the short comedy “Pascual: Los Cereales del Futuro”; he had only one other film role in the remainder of the ‘90s, portraying Nino in the short drama “Telepizza: Promocion Spielberg”.
Mario’s following role came in 2006, when cast to portray Moratalla in the romantic drama “El Camino de los Ingleses”, which starred Alberto Amarilla and Maria Ruiz, and was directed by Antonio Banderas. It follows a group of friends as they’re vacationing together, and the film won one of its five award nominations. Some of Mario’s following roles were in the 2007 short romantic comedy “Sontonia Diario Pop”, the 2009 comedy “Sex, Party & Lies” and the 2009 romantic comedy “Brain Drain”.
In 2012, he played Angel in the crime action “Unit 7”, which starred Andres Blanco and Inma Alcantara, and was written and directed by Alberto Rodriguez. It follows the lives of four undercover police officers, and the film won 18 of its 49 award nominations.
Also in 2012, Mario starred as H. in the romantic drama “I Want You”, which is a sequel to the above-mentioned movie “Three Meters Above Heaven”; it follows H. who’s returned to his hometown and has fallen for another girl, and the movie won two of its four award nominations. Mario was then cast to appear in the adventure comedy “La Mula” and the drama “Boys on Film 9: Youth in Trouble” both in 2013, and the 2014 thriller “Eden”.
In 2016, he starred as Adrian Doria in the critically acclaimed crime mystery “The Invisible Guest”, which also starred Ana Wagener and Jose Coronado, and was written and directed by Oriol Paulo. It follows an entrepreneur who’s been accused of murder, and the movie won two of its five award nominations.
Some of Mario’s most recent film roles have been in the 2021 short comedy “La Tarotista”, the 2021 short drama “Amor a Primera Vista” and the 2023 horror mystery science fiction “Bird Box: Barcelona”.
Roles in TV series
Mario’s debut TV series role was playing a supporting character in the 2005 episode “¿El fin de Victoria Castellanos?” of the mystery thriller “Motivos Personales”, and the same year saw him play Nico in seven episodes of the romantic thriller “Obsesion”, which starred Miguel de Miguel and Diana Lazaro, and follows the love lives of several people.
In 2006 and 2007, he starred as Javi in all 190 episodes of the romantic comedy “SMS, Sin Miedo a Sonar”, which also starred Maria Castro and Amaia Salamanca, and was created by Ernesto Pozuelo. It follows the lives of several teenagers who come from wealthy families.
From 2011 through 2013, Mario played the lead character Ulises Garmendia in all 44 episodes of the adventure mystery “The Boat”, which won one of its five award nominations, and some of his following roles were in the comedy “Paquita Salas”, the mystery “Instinto” and the crime mystery mini-series “The Innocent”.
His most recent TV series role has been playing Aitor Carrasco in 79 episodes (2007-2021) of the action adventure comedy “Los Hombres de Paco”, which starred Paco Tous and Pepon Nieto, and was created by Daniel Ecija and Alex Pina. It follows the life of police officer Francisco ‘Paco’ Miranda, and the series won two of its eight award nominations.

Mario’s the writer and director of the upcoming drama movie “Mi Soledad Tiene Alas”.
He received special thanks for the 2009 short comedy movie “Paco”, the 2018 episode “El Secreto” of the comedy series “Paquita Salas” and the 2021 short drama “Inefable”.

From 2014 through 2016, Mario was in a relationship with Ukrainian-Spanish actress Berta Vazquez, and in 2018 and 2019, he dated Spanish actress Blanca Suarez.
He dated famous Belgian actress Deborah Francois in 2020, and most recently, in 2021 and 2022, Mario was in a relationship with Desiree Cordero, a popular Spanish model who was crowned 2014 Miss Universe Spain.
Mario seems to be unattached as of August 2023, he hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.
